Stereo help

I have a legacy gtb wagon 2003 and am wondering if the factory stereo will power a pair of component speakers that I want to install myself or will they just sound crappy

Yes they will. And they will probably sound okay.

Yes they will sound fine. Of course they will sound better off an amp, but if that's beyond you / your budget, then they will still sound a fair bit better than the stockers.

However, in saying that, I've found stock speakers have surprisingly good low end response, but not so good high end. So don't be surprised if you lose some midbass, but gain more quality vocals and higher frequencies.

That's because the stock speakers are made to work in the enclosure (door) they're stuck in... whereas the enclosure is less important as the frequency rises.
