V6 WRX afm.

So I was driving home last night, went over a bump, car started sputtering and carrying on. Stopped at the lights and it wasn't idolling properly, and when you tryed to put your foot on the accelerator even just a small bit the car would die. Checked the engine bay out thoroughly and no split pipes or hoses off. Unplugged the afm and the car seemed to idol better... So assume it's a faulty afm.

It's one of the drop in one's (pic below).

I assume you can't clean them and I'm up for a new one? Is it best to go original, or is there another brand like Bosch that's just as good but cheaper? Thanks

Buy genuine thro partsouq. Cheaper to buy genuine off subaru here at trade than buy off pan pacific or the like if you need urgently.

Well I do have another car... But would like it sooner rather than later.

The bolts that hold the afm in place seem to be torqued nuts with a bit in the middle. Is this normal mechanics tooling?

Normally come with replacement screws. Its just security torx pretty standard.

Chiming in from MAF adventures of a certain other WRX STi: genuine from Subaru here is something like $175 incl. GST if you can get someone in trade to hook you up. The bolts holding the MAF in place are just normal Security Torx (I forgot the size but it's somewhere around T20).

Seal around the MAF is pretty tight, you may need a thin flat-blade screwdriver to pry it loose. Other than that it's pretty easy to get off.

EDIT: if it stopped working after you hit a bump in the road it's probably buggered. These hot wire MAFs are apparently quite sensitive to shock.

Price could have changed and/or could be cheaper from certain Subaru dealers, I dunno. That's what I remember the price coming out to.

Retail was 170ish+ iirc. Genuine is normally less 20 i used to get less 30 iirc was couple years ago.

If you want the whole assembly, (pipe it goes in and MAF etc) it's 22680AA301, if MAF only then 22794AA010. That's if you're running a V5 / V6 WRX STi.
