Interesting read for those of you going for aftermarket intakes without getting a retune or any safety logs done. Sure it doesn't apply to all situations but better safe than sorry.

Valid addition to this - had car apart the other day for some reason (honestly, godknows what) but it started pinging it's head off out of the blue, and couldn't work out why it'd started all of a sudden. Lowering boost didn't help much, I was v confuse, did an intake leak test, reversed the BOV to rule that out, couldn't find a thing out of place, was thinking maybe fuel pump was giving up or a batch of bad gas or something?

End result - my AFM sits at the end of a pipe into the inner guard (filter is at end of said pipe), and when re-assembling I had changed the orientation of it, which made the afm element sit kinda just past the inside of that curve. Net result - reading lower than it should at high flow levels, meaning pingpingping cause it was seeing far less air than was really there. Checked with datalogger, far less flow "seen" with it turned one way compared to the other.

Rotato sensor, problem gone away, det free motor again now - lesson learned, little changes can have big results
