BL5 fog lights bulbs advise

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help upgrading my fog lights bulbs on my 2005 Subaru Legacy B4 LTD to LED.

From the research I've done it seems they take H3 bulbs. (Hopefully that's correct?)

The other question I have is how in the world do you get to them? There doesn't seem to be any easy way.

Wouldnt go blue, you will run into issues with WOF trust me ive had that argument with them and I was running pure white. Besides pure white will match your HIDs better.

Id also suggest getting a few W5W leds and doing your park lights, number plate, reverse bulbs, door courtesy lights...makes the car look very classy.

FYI Aliexpress will be your best supplier of bulbs, many many to choose from.

Yep H3 is the correct ones you want, well that's what mine have

What I did to get to them was remove the front part of the undertray and then from there you can access the back of the housing and can remove bulbs through there

My 09 outback with the large fog lights uses h3

My mates 09 legacy uses HB4 in his smaller fog lights

A high-intensity discharge (HID or Xenon HID) conversion kit consists of an HID bulb with a high voltage power output or ‘ballast’ which fits into the original headlamp unit in place of the original bulb with no change to the headlamp lens, reflector or housing.

It is illegal to fit an HID conversion kit to a vehicle as it brings the headlamp out of standards compliance by producing poor beam patterns and light that is far too bright to be safe. The bulbs can also produce light that is noticeably blue and not the required substantially white or amber colour. Vehicle and headlamp manufacturers do not permit this modification, and these kits cannot be LVV certified.

Cool, Thanks for the input - guess I'm going to have to go white on the bulb colour then.

The ute that I saw with blue fog lights must have been illegal.

What about the inverted plates? Aka black background, white lettering. Didn't think they were legal unless the car originally had then. Seen a few blacked out Holdens running them lately

Not legal at all. I got pulled over with black plates. Swapped them in front of the cop and he was all good. Just plead innocence

By smaller fog lights do you mean ones like these? (my car)

He's refering more to the fact that the facelift legacy's use the HB4 bulbs while the facelift outbacks still use the H3 like the prefacelift legacy's. Yours are still H3
