Cobb Accessport - Has anyone actually tried one on a JDM?

So I've spent a few weeks looking at OBD2 interfaces and software. Picked up a cheap Bluetooth one from AliExpress that works with a laptop and nothing else. And I keep returning to a search on Cobb Accessport V3. I came back to it today as there was a seller on Trademe with one for sale.

I've even gone as far as emailing Cobb, who replied saying simply that they don't have access to many JDM vehicles, so simply cannot support them. Not that the unit does not work on JDM vehicles.

So my question is simply: has anyone actually tried one of these units on a JDM Subaru?

Yea there's no real benefit for non US people. They're popular over there because they have pre configured maps for most simple mod options so makes 'tuning' simple, but the maps are limited to individual car models. Having the screen to read fault codes and engine parameters is nice and all but chances are it won't work. There is the Prova version which is essentially the same hardware but designed for JDM cars but again probably isn't much use without being able to understand japanese i imagine.

Tactrix is definately the best bet. Lets you tune and read engine data. Can also get the torque pro app for your phone connected to the bluetooth obd2 readers if you get the right one which will show most of the engine parameters you may want to see.

Or order your Tactrix direct from the manufacturer. I ordered one last Friday and it was on my desk on Monday by lunch time.

Also somewhat cheaper than evoscan.

Cobb doesnt work on Jdm cars.

Might work on some nz/auz new. Maybe.

But definately doesnt work on Jdm.

There is another company called prova, who do the accessport for Jdm cars,but support is very limited, and its stupidly expensive

Cheers guys. I thought maybe someone got their hands on one and actually tried it.

I've got a cheap BT OBD2 dongle that works on PC. And looking for a WiFi one now so I can use with my iPad.

I'll have a good dig into Tactrix. Thanks for the links.
