Block inspection / wear ?

Hey guys,

I pulled the sump off an engine this wkend and was wandering if the marks on the inside of the block are normal (last 2 pics)? Have they been machined or are they from the crank....? There were no metal shavings inside the oil / sump so assume they're machined? Crank rotates freely etc. Perhaps the engine has been apart and rebuilt? I know its been sitting around for years.

I had the same markings on the counter weights of my cdb when I stripped it. Not sure it is normal but the machine shop didn't even comment on it when I took it in for checking to rebuild.

Looks like too much end float, your thrust faced could be worn on the crank and or bearings

oh come on dummies . its a 3rd position thrust engine . is that not hint enough

also do you think if a crank was grinding on a alloy block it would machine it perfectly smooth ? no it would be all galled up to fk

Thanks for confirming. That's what I though, but wanted to get some opinions as I haven't had many engine's apart.

The machining marks at the counterweight aren't to do with the centre thrust bearing. I had significant machining marks on most of the counterweights.

Do you think judging by the black silicone (between block) means its been apart?
