HyperFlow TMIC vs OEM v7 sti TMIC

Hi everyone

So im curious to what people think on replacing the Stock v7 sti TMIC with a Hyper flow TMIC. Iv done some research and there are some varied opinions around, just wondering if anyone has had one before and what they thought or anything thats similar.

As far as i aware the thicker core is far more efficient than OEM and is more resistant to heat soak.... however some people think they are worse for heat soak because they stay hot...

Im also assuming i will need to retune as it will change flow rates etc and to check all the intake temps.

Any valid opinions welcome.

If you are going to that much effort, just rotate turbo and go front mount. I can't feel a difference in lag between front mount and top mount. Mind you I am a bit senile.

Dont really want to go to that trouble as of yet... i want to go T/S before rotating and flipping manifold for front mount. Can get this for 250... so just a bit of a upgrade for the next year or so.

I've had two be5 legacy's, one with a standard tmic (be5a) and my current one (be5d) with a hyperflow. The hyperflow is heaps bigger than the stock one but definitely still affected by heatsoak. I can't tell you which was worse but guesstimate them equal for headsoak.

The hyperflow can probably flow a bit more but I've never heard of flow being an issue on a standard legacy ic.

And I'm looking at fmic for my engine swap.

bigger tmic is not really achieving anything . unless your stock one is causing a pressure drop ( restriction) due to physical size .

if its bigger it can absorb more heat from the charge air but then it has stored more heat it has to dissipate.

i really doubt a v7sti cooler is physically restrictive so my answer is no

Anything top mount will still heat soak

The issue isn't when getting dyno tested, or run on the track, it's when it sits for five mins in traffic and takes a couple hundred metres to cool down again

Example: Motorway onramp, drag staging lanes, stop go traffic which clears and you want to fang it

Go FMIC and be done with it

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
