Block and heads match maybe

Hey, I have a motor out of a 1997 sf5 forester turbo and a 1990 bc5 legacy turbo motor. Will the heads off the forester motor work with the closed deck block of the legacy? Also are there any differences in the Pistons in each motor or can I keep the legacy ones in there or put forester ones in the closed deck? Any help would be awesome. Thanks

as I have a CDB with TT heads in my GTB currently, that's my only experience & don't know the specifics after that sorry

Well I'm not sure on foresters engines specs but the heads should physically bolt on yes but you might run into problems with piston to valve clearance. You should be able to mix and match pistons from other engines to get the valve clearance. You will need to workout what head gasket to use to get as close to the factory compression ratio. The other thing to make sure of (unless you're running a link or something) is that they have the same inlet manifold bolt pattern otherwise you're in for a world of annoyance mixing and matching bits to go with the factory ecu.

I'm not sure what pistons the forester has but on factoryish power they should be upto the task.
