Downpipe for STI V7

Hi Guys,

Saw this on Trademe and wondering if this would be worth installing into my Subi and if i would gain any benefit out of it?

I am still running the standard exhaust setup with a straight pipe in the middle though now...only mods i have is a K&N intake and bov.

You will get benefits from it if you get a tune on your car bro. I had full 3inch exhaust turbo back on my v7sti, and got pappu on here to road tune it, went so much better.

Still the stock crappy head on it. Better off getting a real one with a bellmouth.

Definite gains to be had from a proper downpipe even without a tune - that's not a good one though

oh awesome guys thanks for the feedback, glad i came on here before hitting the buy now on that... will save some more cash and buy a decent one....

is this a good brand?

I would disagree, a full 3" + the existing intake are not something that go well without a tune. I drove mine like a naner until jason tuned it, first log showed high boost, boost spike and a/f was way out. My advice is do it once, do it right. Great gains will be seen then...

i have the same exhaust... cheap... average fit etc. i have modified mine a lot since to make it fit a bit better. My car made decent power with that + extras so does the job

What do you mean though "modified mine a lot" like to get it to originally fit the car or just to modify it to gain better performance out of it, i read in your thread you put a external wastegate in if thats what you mean by the modifying...

Oh and is it quite loud as it is or bearable?

cheers man, Nah fits ok from box, the downpipe mount is way to long and needs modifying, or just chop it off. Nah i got sick of it sitting low so cut it in a few spots and moved it around and added washers on the hangers so it didnt slide right through (the middle piece slides through the rubber mount and will knock on the under panel), and the hangers on the muffler arent long enough. Nah good loud as is from box. I thought it would be mint to cut the resonator out... bad idea, really loud. Makes good flames though haha.
