K&N panel replacement filters

Hi all.

I have just replaced my slightly older 1990 Legacy GX with a 2004 Legacy 2.5 manual wagon. I am keen to change out the standard panel filter for a K&N drop in.

I read a bit a while ago about the oil in the K&N wrecking the sensors in the subys? Is this still the case with the later models?

Any info apprecaited.

im runing 1 in my b4 legacy i had to clean my air flow sensor becouse it was missing but other than that iv had no problems

Same story across all models, unless your running a H6 which has no MAF

Yeah so there is an issue with the oil stuffing the air flow sensors even on the newer models? Not that keen to start stuffing parts :-\

Yeah still stuffs the air flow meters. Theres no performance advantage anyways. The new design airbox flows MUCH better than the one you wouldve had on your old 1990.

Just perform a snorkelectomy on it and that will improve airflow enough

hmmm...I wasn't aware the new models had a snorkel? Just pulls air from the grille, straight through the fiter box and in she goes...

If you've donated to all the charities you know of, then have searched the net for some more and donated, and still have cash left lying around, then maybe think about getting an aftermarket filter...

Spot on.

Only difference will be to lighten your wallet, increase induction noise and give you bragging rights.
