6k on mods is it well spent?

Whats "SSI Manifold and Front Pipe" Is that exhaust manifold? And front pipe being up-pipe or down-pipe? And why is he changing them...? And have they guaranteed a particular power level?

To me it just seems like there is probably detail that is missing from the situation that justifies why it is costing that amount...

yup aftermarket headers = manifold and front pipe = uppipe.

Leon's already sorting his own downpipie.

Your right tho - i said the same thing to him.. seems like a stack of money for not much gain.

I think the quote is reasonably vague, and the conversation i had with him, talks about the "phone conversation between STM and leon" so who knows what they covered off.

As i said to him , you cud buy the bits, and most of us with a bit of help cud fit everything for nothing.. and then just take it to be tuned. Saving a tonne of cash.

Something else to think about IMO..

Is writing down what the goal for the car is and sorting a mod list that fits the goal and budget. Throwing cash at a car when you dont know what you wnat to do wont be a nice outcome in the end. you wont like the car any more.

on other hand the stuff they would supply "may" carry a warranty of some sort, where as trying to tune with a hodge-podge of collected gear may yield interesting results..

BUT I'm DIY and favour Funky's suggestion even with the above statement in mind...

WOW - i missed ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is their any difference ebtween a plug n play and one thats hard wired in Mclennan perfomance recon they can do a plug n play G4 Storm for 2500 the recommended i do the tune with G4 then put in the extras later with a retune?

ive taken Jons advice will source the parts myself like regulator 250 fuel pump 188 might hold off on the extractors for now and split the fuellines 450 aswell then a tune.

jon any luck with them injectors from your mate?

you guys are right i dont know what kw i want 220 would be aiiight!!

To answer a prev question yeah cars dne 138kms, full rebuild done at 117kms is pretty stock besides blow off and pod filter. i just wanted to get the most outa the car using its standard parts

you can do everything up to changing the injectors and turbo if you ever got that far ... and keep your stock ecu eh.

As soon as you get an aftermarket ecu you have to retune when you get new mods - costs heaps.

Fuel pump, good idea. super easy to fit

Split rails - $150 and i can show you how to do it

headers - can be put on reasonably easily

down pipe - easy to change

Injectors i can show you how to fit as well. But thinking about it - you should just decap your own ones.. simple easy solution(requires a tune tho right).

all those mods might get you close to 195 or 200 kw with a small increase in boost all on a stock ecu. AT A FRACTION OF THE COST

Oh thats something not talked about. An electronic boost controller would be a really good idea.

The G4 Link comes in a number of options, I would suggest looking at the Link website to see what you actually need http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine-management-ecus and make a decision from there.

You also probably want to work out what you want from the car and talk with whoever you want to tune it about whats most important (ie it could be anything from driveability, maximum power, response or whatever your priority is).

You will find Fuel Pump is a necessity before tuning, as theres a good chance the factory pump wont be upto the amount of power the tuning will allow you to generate.

Also, have you got a decent exhaust system on it that flows well? As I havent seen any mention of this other than exhaust manifold..? And you dont want to have your goals compromised by not having the car ready for making the power etc that you are after.

Remember power is only a number, if you havent already (and Im only guessing from the way you mentioned power) go in a few cars with similar sort of setups, or at least making similar power from a similar sized turbo and engine and see what you think. Is it what your after?

Pretty much what Im trying to get at is dont jump into this, as its alot of money and could easily result in something you dont want. And remember to shop around, not just on price but also listen to what different tuners will offer and why. And work out what suits you best!

so something you also want to think about

you have engine protection mods, these give zippo in terms of kw gained but stop it going bang

You have performance mods which release power but reduce protection right.

We'll try catch up sunday Leon and il explain

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
