Help with an engine change in 96 Legacy

Please help. I want to fit a manual, non turb 2L engine from my crashed 96 Legacy wagon into the chassis of 95 wagon that had a blown auto, turbo 2L engine. Does anyone know if the wiring looms and ECU is compatible? Would it be easier to transfer the whole loom across that goes with the new engine. Also - the manual trans conversion - anyone done one of these - any tips?

Where are you located? There might be a member in your area willing to help.

Manual swaps are pretty easy, just time consuming. Im not sure if the wiring looms are compatible between the cars but mechanically everything should bolt up.

ecu wont run the engine.. ull need the n/a loom and ecu etc etc...

as for the manual conversion, sure its done quite often.. there are kits you can buy with everything you need...

however just swapping the gearbox and engine over is not quite that easy... one issue could be a different ratio on the rear differential to your manual box..

gotta wonder if all that effort and $$ is worth it really..

but as keltik said yeah someone wil be keen to help you..

Which isn't separated from the rest of the loom.

It is possible to re-pin the ECU plugs to use the existing loom but you need reliable ECU pinout diagrams

The GT you got only has a blown auto?

Sell the 2L and gearbox, get a turbo gearbox, and manual convert the GT.

If you don't want twin turbo, single turbo convert it. Don't N/A convert a turbo, that's just stupid...

Auto trans is good, motor has blown head gasket (260 kkms), hes got a EJ20 single cam engine with low as Kms and a manual box so we going to try fit that in the GT chassie, otherwise yea thats what we would be doing , and maybe the RWD conversion 2
