help with a gtb

hi a newbie on here..just got 96 gtb wagon auto..it doesnt seem to boost runs like a non turb up to 4000rpm then does a littile cut out. had a bunch of blown fuses so thought it was comp so changed it but no diff..have been told it could be primary turbo but looking for other opinions thanks you for your time

I would get/borrow a boost gauge so you can see what is really going on through the gears. Also have you tried running it through the gears from 1-2-3 to see how it boost then?

is it in limp mode? reset ecu/check the codes

hi picked it up yesterday from the mechanic after getting the primary changed..the primary turbo was seized due to the little inline filter being blocked..only manufacturer to run the filter..having purchased the wag with the poked turb must say i was very happy with how it ran on way home last night..save some coin for cam belt next ;D

Did you even read his last post?

Limp mode? More like dead turbo, no boost mode.

I did read his post. And it would have been on code 66 and in limp if it had a dead primary. "runs like a non turb up to 4000rpm then does a littile cut out." also sounds suspiciously limp mode like.

The cut out maybe, but there is a big difference in no boost and limp mode, wastegate level of boost. Especially if the turbo is seized and blocking the flowpath.

if it had seized a turbo, i would say the computer never whould have nowen, so i would be suprised if there was actually a code,

from wht i have delt with in the past on mine, it doesnt monitor the boost levels othere than to open the waste gate and the map sensor probly monitors for petrol, but i dont think puts out a lack of boost error kinda thing lol

yes mechanic did say it would be code 66..no boost at sensor..engine check light was on also but now it is running right light is off
