Oil info for a V3 STI

Hey all my Rex is due for a oil change (first one since ive owned it) and am wondering what oil to use?

In my old BF5 GT Legacy I used a Semi-Senthytic (spelling) Pennzoil which was great I also tried Castol Magnetic but the Legacy use to burn it and would turn black quickly where as the Pennzoil didnt so put me off Magnetic abit.

My Rex doesn't get thrashed alot just a bit of a boost every now and then when its warmed up.

Any help on this would be great thanks! Darren :)

Magnatec oil is what all the Subaru dealerships use so I think you'd be pretty safe with that if it's what they use, I run it in my Leggy (5/30 grade) and it seems to love it, also as mentioned doing it every 5k would be a good idea, 10k for a turbo car is a fair amount of time, no wonder your last car was burning it lol

i use total 5w30 in my wrx , we sell total oil products at my work , we had an oil analylser guy come and pick some samples of oil up from a truck we were working on , he was telling us that nothing even comes close to total oil , in terms of hows its made up , wear protection etc , he tests alot of oils and reakons its the best .

I was changing oil in my old Legacy every 5000ks for some reason it didnt like the Magnetic. Will change the oil every 5000ks in my STI aswell would never change it every 10000ks in a turbo car.

Yea a mate of mine use to have a worked '88 VR4 and him and his mechanic who built the motor for it swore by total aswell said it was superior to all other oils. Im going to go with a total oil.

Thanks for the info guys :)

Also, I quite like Elf Competition SM (semi-synth) 10w-40 at the mo. Really like it cause I get it cheaper than I can buy bottled water :D haha. But I've always changed oils before 5000kms so don't give them a chance to fully break down. Reckon its betterer than the Castrol Edge I used to use.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
