hey can anyone recommend a place in auckland to put cams in a sti. i hav bought a set of hks cams and dont really know how much it would cost to put it

If you want to do it yourself more than happy to help, put a new block in car and cams was part of that

What you may need to do though once the cams are in is get the valve shims shaved so that they are at the right clearances.

Once again, where abouts in Auck are you?

Possibly - running into territory I'm not sure about... But if you want to save some coin then happy to help you put them in

if yu have gottin larger or different profile cams, then you will most likely need a retune to gt the most out of them. if they are massivly different then a retune may be nessassery for idle and or stable running

Absolutely definitely. And yeah, cams are a fairly DIY ish job. BUT, ask questions here first on what needs to be done, chrisjunkie may have installed factory cams, neither of us have even touched aftermarket stuff.

What engine do you have (EJ20G, EJ20K, EJ207 etc.. and from what year). And do they run different clearences or what. Ring around various engine builders for some info on the job, even try PBMS (Possum Bourne MotorSport).

This is absolutely correct, likely the valves will have to be lapped back slightly, and the valve shims will DEFINITELY need machining if you have solid lifters.

Exactly what I had to do with mine. Lucky I had Ryan (boostin) help me out with what they need to be and was able to get them machined by a precision engineering company. VERY important to get right!
