Working on my GC8 Wrx...

Getting rocker cover gasket and clutched sorted in the next week and I was thinking while I'm doing gaskets should I be putting some new sparks and stuff like that in.

Was thinking maybe NGK sparks, K&N panel filter, possibly orange air flow meter?

And radiator coolant was awfully low, how do I go about flushing that out and replacing?

Cheers everyone

Avoid K&N or any oiled air filter, they have a reputation for killing AFMs. Dry filters are the go, the paper factory is OK, Apexi is best. Simota would work too. They're all much of a muchness.

Radiator coolant - hate to say it, but 'do a search', there are some threads on here about it. Take your time and squeeze the top radiator hose lots is my advice.

Sparks - go with NGK platinums. Factory heatrange is fine unless you have big power.

Oh, is your existing AFM broken? Any secondhand one is likely to be a liability. And new ones are rather expensive.

Sweet, I have a look at for a Apexi or Simota filter..

Its hardly modded just has a bov under the engine bay, so I was thinking of some basic mods like air flow, sparks, injectors while it was easy to get at

can i ask why you going to use a orange airfilter?

what year is your car? ussing orange airfilter dont really make much different. unless u get some yellow injectors and sti ecu to go with that. good mod

Whatever you do, don't use a foam filter. Seen a few of those explode into places they have no business exploding into :P

Why do you want an orange AFM, do you already have one? You only need it if your ECU asks for it.

nothing wrong with foam filters if replaced at the correct intervals, and yea i have seen a few disintegrated at work because people seem to think they are meant to last forever ::)

Just heard of people replacing air flow meter with the orange one and yellow top injectors so thought it might be a good upgrade, however going by price, exhaust should probably come first

Hey mate. ive got a GC8 scooby too. if uve got some spare cash these mods would be great as it is what ive done so far as im not that rich lol.

if u wana change ur afm (air flow meter) to orange ($150-$200), u will need yellow injectors with split fuel rails($150-$200) and a ver 3-5 sti 3 plug ecu ($150-$200). get a full exhuast system with extractors($1000-$1500). if u still got cash after that go for a vf turbo($400-$700) and u will pump. ive done almost all the mods ive stated except turbo and my car goes quite well.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
