HDi SBC TYPE-D SUBARU Boost Controller + Zerosports Sequential Controller???

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I'm thinking to get a HDi SBC TYPE-D SUBARU Boost Controller for my 99 be5 b4, as what I have seen from the past threads, it's said that the HDi is not as good as the Zerosports sequential controller (http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,5012.0.html). I'm just wondering if these two controller are the same and do the same things? To me one is boost controller and the other one is sequential controller. I might end up with putting both controller on my b4. Or do I only need one?? Pls HELP...

I note you say "boost controller" with the HDi. ZS controllers don't control boost, their sole function is to change the cross over point between turbo's.

Thanks ReubenH I'm aware that the ZS controller only changes the cross over point and it doesn't alter the boost setting. The reason I'm thinking to get both HDi and the ZS controllers is that I want to change the cross over point and give a bit higher boost to both turbos if possible. Now I'm stuck cos' I'm not sure if these two controllers do similar things..

Hrmm. Well, if the HDi controls boost, let us know eh, you might have to try it out and let us know how it goes. The combo i always wanted to do, and saw done a few times was ZS controller for the crossover point, and apexi ACV-R for boost control (it can do sequential twin turbo boost control, most boost controllers only do single turbo).

i am hoping to do the same i have the boost controller. but i used the cheaper one as the hdi sbc subaru controller works better on single turbo the boost drops off. were as the twin turbo boosts all the way to 7500 so you dont need to use that model. just there standard controller will do. from what i,ve read the zerosport controller would be worth getting.

with the HDi you can set it for two different setting of boosts - a high and a low boost,

i.e. im running 8psi both turbos at the low setting and 12psi both turbos at the high setting

the ZS controller would change the crossover between the two turbos which means less turbo lag

that's what i want for being able to set the low and high boosts. so Hdi and ZS are doing the different things huh.. i guess apexi avc-r does the similar thing as the Hdi right? due to the cost issue, i might give Hdi a try and see how good it works for the boost setting. thanks for the info lol

avc-r lets me me set rpm boost levels ie 500rpm = 12psi, 3000 rpm = 12psi, 4500rpm = 15 psi, 5000 rpm = 18 psi etc

is that setting for a TT or single turbo??

tt - which is wuite handy because primary is 14 and secondary 16? standard? (i cant remember)

so ya don't just wanna chuck 18psi in from 2500 rpm cos the wee turbo physically cant do it on its own... when the secondary jumps in its possibly (but not entirely recommended)

I would also be interested in your results as that is exactly what I am planning. I already have a zerosports seq controller in and have just finished sorting the ecu wiring for my gtb ( 5 Plug ECU ). Any info from you would be most appreciated. I have an Apexi avc r unit to put in.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
