Shifter linkage

Recommended Posts

Reuben Here, posting on matt's account cause his computer sucks and won't let me log out.

When i installed the sti shifter linkages into the black GTB, i mixed and matched things, picking the best condition parts to use. So i used the GTB's little plastic coupling thing that the gearstick sits in, as the STi one was damaged. This is held into the rest of the assembly with a circlip.

That circlip has popped off twice now, and i have none left. Sorta makes driving interesting. Any idea why this might be? I swear i put it on properly, made sure it was fully set into it's groove, but twice now it's come off.

Any tips, secrets or anything about these little suckers? Am i going to need to buy a new plastic thing, or can i double up with a larger circlip, or wire the standard one together so it never falls apart or what?

I drove my BC2 for 6 months without that circlip because i broke it taking it out...the shifter never really moved so im not sure what youve done reubs :P

Id say stop at the pick-a-part and grab a new one. Not hard to find there

I use windscreen urethane for every thing :)

any way Ruebs

if they continually popping of i would guess either a/ they turning and then popping off or b/ there is to much pressure on it they dont like lots of pressure :)

Also which way have u been putting them on as there is a right way and a wrong way :)

There's a right way and a wrong way? Hmm. I considered this today when sticking the new one on. I got a new bush, and circlip btw. The circlip get's the most force put on it when pushing the gearstick away from you (going into 1st, 3rd, and 5th). When you do that movement, it levers the bush out, and puts force on the circlip at the front (front being front of the car side of the circlip when the assembly is all together and in the car). I faced the circlip round so that the open end was facing the rear of the car.

Anyway, pictures:

As you can see here, the lip the circlip has to grip on is really really small... :-\

New circlip vs an old circlip, hmmm...

Rubbers on and greased up ;)

Again, new circlip vs old, using old circlips i suppose is not advised...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
