Exhaust to loud!

I have a 3” exhaust on my wrx, but it is way too loud, unless the highly restrictive silencer is used. There is one small, and one large resonator leading to a straight through cannon exhaust.

I am thinking that I will need to change the rear muffler, to something like a flowmaster style.

So that do people think, will this make it quiet? Anything else to try?

I have a 3 inch turbo back exhaust with three resonators and a Zerosports JASMA muffler. It's pretty quiet. Even with 2 resonators, it wasn't bad. So yeah, see if you can fit an extra resonator in there and change your muffler, should be plenty quiet.

If you havent worked it out Jasma isn't a brand its a specifcation that all japanese aftermarket exhaust systems have to meet (under 95Db I think).

They will usually have a plate welded to a jasma spec exhaust, if you find a jasma spec exhaust it will be legal in NZ, well usually, they're not allowed to remove cats in japan so a catless downpipe may make it a little louder than its spec.

The plate will also help you find out what brand an exhaust is, theres a few lists online, depending what numbers are on it they usually matched to a manufacturer.

This exhaust is actually a fujitsubo system, valued over $2000 normally, i've got two of them (one spare for full 3inch setup) my car passes wof's no problems with a catless downpipe

This is fitted to a turbo's back 2 & 1/2 inch pipe into 2 & 1/2 inch joiner, into 4 inch flexi into 3 inch pipe all the way to the 4 inch tip...

Sound measured when made was below 95dB (if memory is correct it measured to 91dB)... cant get better than that for the whole system for $800 cash...

Actually you can get better than that, I got my second fujitsubo 3 inch stainless system for $200, a mate got the same thing but with a titainium muffler for $400.

I got a 2 1/2 inch system custom made for $350. so $800 is up there for a bitsa system

This was about 4 years ago that I got it. The system includes a cat as well:

And its custom made to fit to the car (not some generic rubbish kit) I Have tried some of them in the past and they would have bits rubbing or hanging too low.

I got my exhaust noise & emission cert.'ed when I got the rest of the upgrades cert.'ed, this means that the WOF shop can't argue the point ;D

Just had a Fujitsubu muffler fitted, very happy. Quiet when driving around normally and sounds great when I put my foot down, and a bit more power vs the old muffler with the silencer.

Only problem is it sticks out a bit

Well i dont think it will leave drity maks on my bumper ;D

That looks really long! Was it designed for a GC8 or was it from a Forester or something? Mine stuck out that much when it was first fitted. If you can, get them to move it back a bit. Otherwise, you'll burn your ankles when you walk around the back to get something out of your boot!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
