  2. No longer the owner of a Subaru... Gonna miss the S401. Got lots of fond memories of it with Mum doing random little road trips over the last 3 years of her life. I got the car pretty much just before she got sick. Now, I've got a car better suited for long trips and all that, and luckily a lovely young woman (better than the last one I "dated") to explore with. Think I'll probably sign off from here for now. I'll check back every now and again, and provide advice if needed. Kia Ora fellas! Enjoy the drive!

  3. Yes, the car will be getting a tune with link G4 regardless, to make the most of the bigger tmic, headers, and injectors and gone to vf22 over vf28.

  5. I was thinking something along these lines... at highs revs half the motor is strangled and/or the air is hitting the turbine at an angle that is totally ineffective... and the other half of the motor on it's own, doesn't have the flow to drive big numbers. So the TS best of both worlds, turns into the worst of both worlds.

  6. Have read about a few that were worse, most seem to just respond as if they were SS. Not Garrett’s but same theory applies really. Single scroll is still pushing the whole volume through one correctly sized passage without much restriction, where TS will be giving one big puff down the correct runner then bleeding some back down the other, this lower velocity air then has the potential to play havoc on the next event coming down that second runner depending on the timing of it which can create ’patches’ where it is worse than SS, it'll never be the entire band unless the design is really f***ed up. Probably not Lorens problem if they think spool is fine. Worth putting some bungs in the uppipe post WG to see if one of the runners backpressure is spiking higher than the other. For a race car with this sized turbo surely you aren't really giving much up down low with a bigger SS housing. Other than on the line or if things go wrong you’ll still be in the meat of the power band when changing gears.

  7. I'm irrationally attached to a 2002 GTB wagon. Its done 230k and now the Head Gasket has just gone 😂, ( it did this a day after I looked down on someone for poor maintenance when they told me this happened to their old sub ) Anyway I've decided to get it fixed. I'm wondering while the engine is out is there anything else I could get the mechanic to work on / look over / cool stuff. The cam belt was done 30k ago, so... other than that. This car is all stock, and despite its k's tidy. Am I insane spending ~$2k to fix this on a car this old, too late because I am, but if you want to reassure me then that's cool . Car is getting worked on at Sims brothers Dunedin.
