My old Bh tt didn’t have a vacuum leak,but because the vacuum reservoir hoses were pinched the reservoir couldn’t reach full vacuum,causing intermittent sync problems between the twin turbos.No check engine lights.Was suggested by a good Subaru mechanic to check vacuum hoses,especially the plastic pipe/hose that runs from the reservoir around the front of the radiator to the solenoid box.Maybe a small vacuum leak causing the reservoir to loose vacuum overnight.As soon as car started,vacuum replaced.These cars are getting old and require a lot of maintenance because of the complexity of the tt engine.Cheap to buy,expensive or time consuming to maintain. My old Bh tt will make full boost from cold.I’m always telling my son to warm the car up first.

Possibly a vacuum leak that stops the vacuum reservoir in the passenger front guard holding vacuum which controls the tt solenoid box which controls the turbos.Had this problem after a engine rebuild where the tards had trapped/pinched the vacuum hoses to the vacuum reservoir under the battery.
  3. I have a 3.0 Outback facelift and agree with poor fuel consumption.I normally use the white Subaru oem filter but replaced the air filter with the orange type,noticeable improvement in fuel consumption.Run Mobil 98 from the same local gas station.

Thank’s @pedro and @Bobby.Working on a budget at the moment.I was looking at pulling Legacy engine but will have to stay in car for now.I’m concentrating on oil surge and cooling first.RCM baffled sump,pick up and SAS baffle plate on it’s way.Looking at oil coolers now.RCM will probably be my first choice.Got to keep some funds available as I’m waiting for Michelin to have a sale.
  5. What let’s go first on a Sti V7 short block,bearings,crank,rods or pistons.
  6. Forget the spare wheel,weld on a big rear wing and don’t forget the baked bean can muffler tip.

I tried this with a single turbo conversion into a 94 Legacy Rs tt early 2000.Car ran fine,but once boost exceeded primary turbo tt boost ecu switched to limp mode.Might be different with your the later model tt ecu,but still requires a lot of work to the solenoid box.Eventually wired in a aftermarket ecu,removed the solenoid box and was able to make changes to ignition timing and fuelling.
  8. If you lower your car excessively it can place additional strain on the inner cv’s.I’ve seen some front axles on a Legacy bp made for this purpose.I’m sure Supergramps blew one side only.
  9. Doesn’t mean they own it.Unfortunatly when you purchase privately,if you have any concerns regarding the sale list it in the receipt of sale and make sure it is dated and signed by the seller.In court it will be your word against there’s.
  10. Small claims court is a waste of time.If you win,the defence can claim poverty and ‘dribble out payment over years.Payment is not enforced.
  11. Give ADL Autoparts a call regarding rebuild of your driveshaft to see if it can be rebuilt.Hard to find good second hand parts for gc8’s now.
  12. Shout out to Gareth and the guys at Subtech.Picked up my Outback 3.0R with the calipers off my bl b spec fitted.Used there new range of discs and ceramic pads.First impressions are good.I’ve used Znoelli for over 10 years and Mintex.Using Dba and Endless on the bl.
  13. Join HP Academy if you want to build your engine properly or get a better understanding of how a performance/race engine should be built.Excellent modules take you through preparation,measuring,machining,clearances,balancing,blueprinting and assembly.
  14. Sti and sedan guards are the same for V7.
  15. Any reason why the passenger side guard doesn’t line up flush with the bumper.I’m sure the sedan bumper is slightly wider then the hatch bumper.
  16. The V7 sedan is 1730mm wide and the hatch is 1695mm wide.V7 sedan front track 1485mm and the hatch front track 1465mm.
  17. Wheel alignment has to be way off spec to cause any vibration problems.Check your tyres for uneven wear.If you have a bent rim,problem will move as you rotate wheels.If you have after market mags,they may have a removable spigot ring for multi fitment for other vehicles.This is what locates your mag onto the hub,it may be missing.Again the problem will move when you rotate wheels.Warped or cracked brake rotors are obvious under braking.Make sure there is nothing raised between the brake rotor hub mounting and wheel hub mounting. Best way to find out what’s going on is to jack car up securely on all 4 lower suspension arms and run car at idle through the gears and check wheels and axles for vibration.Otherwise swap over your wheels with another set.Cheap front axles can also cause problems,axles which have been swapped left to right and rebuilt cv’s.I’ve even had a new car that had to have the tyres shaved.
  18. Had this problem with a Bh legacy.Inner cv.Have this problem with my Bl legacy.Worn Bilstein shock.
  19. Just got my new,used Legacy Sti wheels back from Arrow Wheels for track day wheels and purchased a set of new matched Sti blue injectors for my Legacy tgv delete,top feed parallel fuel rail conversion.
  20. Worn Bilstein shocks can also make a knocking noise.Also the front Bilstein shock bottom spring seat has a rubber pad which can wear and cause knocking when on full steering lock.

There’s not alot of gain to be had really by replacing the down pipes on your model.I eventually did a single turbo conversion on my car with a Motec after market ecu and vf24 turbo.Theres plenty of information on this site for your model car using another ecu and single turbo as it is a popular conversion in NZ.
  22. Sorry,I thought you were in NZ.You can buy the Rage system direct from Autobend NZ in three parts,decat down pipes,center section with resonator and rear muffler.Manual only as the auto box is larger but can be made to fit.Haywood and Scott,England also sell a twin turbo exhaust system.

  24. Rage used to do a decat turbo tt exhaust.I’d be interested in your primary oem down pipe if the car hasn’t done big mileage.I had a decat Rage tt exhaust system on my 94 Rs.If you replace the rear muffler,don’t go to big as you can over spin the primary turbo.I modded a gc8 Sti muffler.
  25. Give Gareth a call and explain what’s going on.They are a good workshop and stand by there work.I had a solid center clutch plate installed by them and didn’t like it and they replaced it,no charge. Was that the twin scroll down pipe on Tm with the cat.
