  1. Tramlining is not understeer. Understeer is when the front fails to follow the path dictated by the steering input and runs wide. Tramlining is when a car is thrown off course by contours in the road surface. In NZ a common example is a car "falling off the camber" when driving on roads with a high crown.
  2. Porsche 911 from year dot has always had oil temp and pressure gauges. What year Sigma Turbos did you have ? The old Sigma GSR was a rocketship in its day, nice smooth turbo engine, piss-poor handling and awful steering but a relaxing cruiser.
  3. Nice compromise between STi sedan and hatch. More practical, less power, big brakes.
  4. T1R is a much better tyre than the Proxes 4. One of the great all-rounders; good performance, good life, reasonable price. V tread pattern doesn't really affect tramlining. That's caused more by a combination of tyre width, car setup and bad roads (eg. high crowns). What the V tread and corresponding large void area does affect is straightline stability and performance when the tread heats up. Not recommended for trackwork unless you are Mr T.Rev, he's the ONLY guy I've ever seen go really fast on T1Rs. ;D
  5. Seiko timing ? ;D
  6. DVD arrived despite NZ Post's best efforts (they broke the clip holding the DVD inside the case). A top effort. Interesting Bonus Features... Was that a manually operated timing device Al was playing with during his hot laps ? Where did you get the Dolby trailer from ? Haven't seen that one before. No good for setup but fun to watch. ;D
  7. That would be for a used unit ? Most V1's are a bit more. If you have your heart set on a used V1, make sure: - it's not stolen ! -comes with all the original accessories -check the firmware version http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/ In fact it would be a good idea to read through the whole website before buying. Otherwise, the Escort X50, BEL STI/XR are better detectors overall.
  8. Been covered many times before... POP isn't used in NZ plus POP is unreliable, So you don't need a detector with POP. Bells 'n whistles usually compromises core performance so buy your V1 in confidence it will do a good job in NZ conditions.
  9. Haha Another fat bastard
  10. Geez did all you guys fail reading lessons at school ? How hard is it to read a simple statement like ??? That means 0.56 cents per litre. EPIC FAIL if you can't understand that.
  11. GEEZUS it's BIG 'n FUGLY !!! Looks even more like a Korean car.
  12. Bollocks. Skimming is not the same as heat treating and definitely won't increase rotor strength. All skimming does is remove uneven material from the rotor, leaving it thinner and more prone to warping. Where'd that info come from ? Like Brembo, TRW/Lucas are also big OEM suppliers so their replacements should be up to scratch. They can't be any worse than genuine Subaru replacements, which are pretty crap to begin with. [quote name='subieboy said: Ouch... Yeah, good thing it didn't happen out on the track.
  13. Two more will have you reaching for the tissues.
  14. Sweet. No hurry. Shoot me a PM when you have more copies. ;D
  15. No biggie. Was going to add a PS to my original post and found I couldn't, had to leave a new post. Wouldn't want to appear a post whore... ;D
  16. PS... Better check that your wheels fit over the Brembos. Mods; What happened to the Edit button ? ???
  17. Brembo rears are a lot bigger; 316mm vs. the 266 or 290* of yours. *Have you measured the diameter of your 2-pot rears ? Different sources list different sizes. :-\
  18. Is it really in 16x9 widescreen with 5.1 sound ? If so, I'll ake a copy. ;D
  19. That's what I had done on mine too. Drilled stock struts. I can get a tad over -3º neg. camber.
  20. EXCELLENT essay Joker ! The guys did a great job. For speed, leave the pads in. ;D
  21. The v9 was good but not that good. Lots of cars will easily out-handle one. You need to distinguish between grip and handling. Subarus are like Audis, they major on the former and minor on the latter.
  22. It was a while ago now. Laws Road 2004 ! ;D
  23. The Excels and Bendix Ultimate are both rated to 550 degrees with a friction co-efficient of 0.36 for the Excel, no frictio co. for Bendix. Compare with the Formula/TS2000; 650 degree, 0.46. And Ferodo Racing DS2500; 650 degree, 0.50
  24. It might look something like this... Carjam lists it as a 95 Impreza 2000cc but the vehicle ID shows EJ15 engine and GC1 chassis numbers... http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=4posum&search=Check
  25. It's been chipped and there's some typical Bimmer selling BS... These things never had even close to 285 bhp from the wheels. Factory figure was 286bhp from flywheel... But notice there are no interior photos ? Caveat emptor
