  1. Geez did all you guys fail reading lessons at school ? How hard is it to read a simple statement like ??? That means 0.56 cents per litre. EPIC FAIL if you can't understand that.
  2. GEEZUS it's BIG 'n FUGLY !!! Looks even more like a Korean car.
  3. Bollocks. Skimming is not the same as heat treating and definitely won't increase rotor strength. All skimming does is remove uneven material from the rotor, leaving it thinner and more prone to warping. Where'd that info come from ? Like Brembo, TRW/Lucas are also big OEM suppliers so their replacements should be up to scratch. They can't be any worse than genuine Subaru replacements, which are pretty crap to begin with. [quote name='subieboy said: Ouch... Yeah, good thing it didn't happen out on the track.
  4. Two more will have you reaching for the tissues.
  5. Sweet. No hurry. Shoot me a PM when you have more copies. ;D
  6. No biggie. Was going to add a PS to my original post and found I couldn't, had to leave a new post. Wouldn't want to appear a post whore... ;D
  7. PS... Better check that your wheels fit over the Brembos. Mods; What happened to the Edit button ? ???
  8. Brembo rears are a lot bigger; 316mm vs. the 266 or 290* of yours. *Have you measured the diameter of your 2-pot rears ? Different sources list different sizes. :-\
  9. Is it really in 16x9 widescreen with 5.1 sound ? If so, I'll ake a copy. ;D
  10. That's what I had done on mine too. Drilled stock struts. I can get a tad over -3º neg. camber.
  11. EXCELLENT essay Joker ! The guys did a great job. For speed, leave the pads in. ;D
  12. The v9 was good but not that good. Lots of cars will easily out-handle one. You need to distinguish between grip and handling. Subarus are like Audis, they major on the former and minor on the latter.
  13. The Excels and Bendix Ultimate are both rated to 550 degrees with a friction co-efficient of 0.36 for the Excel, no frictio co. for Bendix. Compare with the Formula/TS2000; 650 degree, 0.46. And Ferodo Racing DS2500; 650 degree, 0.50
  14. It might look something like this... Carjam lists it as a 95 Impreza 2000cc but the vehicle ID shows EJ15 engine and GC1 chassis numbers... http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=4posum&search=Check
  15. It's been chipped and there's some typical Bimmer selling BS... These things never had even close to 285 bhp from the wheels. Factory figure was 286bhp from flywheel... But notice there are no interior photos ? Caveat emptor
  16. Yep, and here's the proof... Back with the v4 V-Limiteds, there was a WRX Type R coupe which got a roof vent, the STi Type R did not. Subsequent v5 and v6 Limiteds only had STi Type R's, all got the roof vent. v5 v6
  17. They probably never thought of it as they had won both the 1995/96 Manufacturers' and 1995 Drivers' Championships with a 4-door WRX, under Group A rules. In 1997 they switched to new WRC rules, which meant no longer having to build 2500 homologation cars. Manufacturers could build more specialised cars as long as they were based on a production model. Subaru also recognised the marketing benefits and released the first STi coupe at the same time as the new WRC rally car.
  18. Nope. First one was the MY97 WRX STi Version III Type R. Retna was announced late 1994 as a MY95 model and went on sale January 1995. Four models; FWD 1.5, manual or auto. 4WD 1.6, manual or auto. Best/most powerful Retna was the MY95 USDM Sport Coupe with 135bhp Legacy 2.2L, auto only.
  19. Compared to the FWD AE82/92's the AE86 was an axle-tramping tractor. Definitely inferior handling to the better sorted FWD performance Corollas.
  20. Nah, it's a mongrel, amongst the stuff you expertly spotted you missed the steering wheel. All v4's got airbag steering wheels, that car has a v3 wheel. Another mongrel; V5/6 nose, v4 front bar, v6 rear wing. Might not even be an STi coupe as it's missing the front lip, side skirts and rear apron usually found on STi coupes. That guy wishes his car was that fast. The v5 special edition was plain Limited, no "V", confusion caused by close proximity of the "V" in "Version V".
  21. Blame BMW for the confusion caused by calling both their serious, once handbuilt roadracers and their sporty accessory line "M". : An offshoot company, BMW Motorsport GmbH, originally handbuilt the first M3 and M5 cars. Then BMW GmbH appropriated the M for their Motorsport accessory line. The Motorsport options did include a suspension package as well as the cosmetic bits like seats, steering wheels, road wheels, bodykits etc. So while the M3 running gear was not optional it is possible to get an E36 with factory Motorsport suspension (they never offered a brake package). These cars were lower, a bit better handling and poorer riding. Finally, if you're not tearing around the Nurburgring, there's nothing wrong with the auto gearboxes, they are well suited for regular driving.
  22. Read the question, for Pappu's proposed usage the Excels will be OK. Gross over-generalization re: Ripco, some stores sell Ferodo TS2000 pads, no arguing that they aren't top notch.
