  1. You'll see, will do a write up once it's in and tuned :-)
  2. Something up with your car bro, shouldn't be that bad. I get just over 500km from a tank, bit less around town. Tuned at 22psi V7 sti so 60l tank
  3. I have buggered head gaskets. New motor being built, it was a *shrugs* "what have I got to loose" moment. Head gaskets currently holding up fine, new motor to be in the hole very soon. Yep factory grb valve. Anything above about 10psi it works like its supposed to, but the spring is bloody stiff, so less than 10 it choo choo's nicely. Again, temporary fix, as the whole lot's coming out
  4. Drove it about 6 hours south. Yep, that's where my boost went. Also, grb recirc valves on a gd/gg = all of the low boost sututu
  5. I'd check the loom connector plug in the engine bay for oil ingress, as well as the ecu itself. The avcs sensors are known to leak, which forces oil up the inside of the cable and into the ecu which can cause a whole world of issues
  6. Took new bike to pokeno, picked up a working recirc valve, rode home, installed recirc valve, reset ecu and ran the car. Also bit the bullet and dumped some k-seal into it, hope to make the temporary fix last a little longer. Noticable differences, it idles smoother, and has a better vac on idle. The old valve seat lost all it's tension, also found a leak in the brass cap, it's been leaking for a while. Probably explains where my boost has gone lately. I now get the joy of reprogramming my ebc. Ehh, details.
  7. I certainly will. Shocking job for a recommended repairer. No courtesy cars either.
  8. I'm at 9 weeks for this saga, starting with a stroppy islander and a hit and run just before flatnats. That and State insurance are spectacularly unhelpful about it all. Ugh.
  9. Got to the panel beaters just as they were closing up. Grabbed the car and headed home. Door not closed light on dash, interior light going. Hmmm ok. Got her home. List as follows: Bumper not blended into surrounding panels. Boot not blended Wings (both upper and lower) not painted or blended. One of my (nearly new) gas struts has been replaced with an old one that's covered in grease Mudflaps over tightened, forcing the spacer through the flap. Sti and impreza badges not reinstalled. I had to adjust Boot latch to hold the boot closed and the door open light off. This, on top of the unprofessional and rude attitude of the management staff and the fact that a 3 day repair took 7. Going to be ringing insurance company tomorrow.
  10. i have one. its FUXXING LOUD with the silencer out, and sounds like dragging plastic with the silencer in. like, drove from masterton to fielding at the flatnats before last, had a pounding headache for the rest of the day. fitment is average at best. its a bit short, and puts a lot of force on the turbo as it doesnt brace very well. im finally happy with mine, extended the mid section by about an inch and a half, and v-banded my sti genome tip to the back section. its now practical as a daily... lol its cheap for a reason. oh, and dont use the included up-pipe, its crap. its too big, kills response
  11. Gate must be either plumbed back or silenced and exit next to exhaust. It also needs certing. Don't do it. Not worth. Just get a tune.
  12. Be awesome if you did find it, will be having a chat to @Pappu1 re: break-in tune....
  13. @Subirex Automotive will after Christmas I believe
  14. Ajay at @Subirex Automotive has a sneeky sti forester or two that may be coming up for sale soon... ;-)
  15. When mine let go, there were 6 or 7 on the go at pbms, subtech had done 10 in the 2 months prior and had done another 3 by the time my clutch lunched itself, sublab had a few of em on the go and there was aparantly a massive shortage on head gaskets for them when mine died
  16. Oh don't get me wrong, the car was phenominal. Quick, comfy, quiet, lots of leg room in the back, it was an amazing car. Would buy another 2010+ but defo not another first or second rev (07-10) one...
  17. 2litre. Well documented off shore, as well as a phonecall to any of the major Subaru rebuilders, disproportionate numbers of failures, all with bad rings identified
  18. Yes, it is. Normally between 120-150k they let go. Bad piston rings, blowby carbon build up floats the bigends. Like, 500km post oil change, the oil is almost diesel black. Mine let go at 110 k
  19. Had a look through it, there is like zero avcs and a really conservative timing and fueling map lol. Either way, I'll give it a shot. Just gotta get it to chch hahaha
  20. I have a couple of tunes, but all for things like big injectors etc, I was hoping to find a stock equipment tune. I'm getting there though, got the pinouts sorted and planned out what I'm going to put where, but I was hoping to get the link installed and running before the new engine goes in, then write on a break-in map so it's less work to do in the one weekend
  21. +1 for @SAS @gotasuby Have used their mounts, bloody good. Very agressive for a daily though
  22. 1999 Legacy.... If it has functionality it'll be under the steering column or down by the footwell in the plastics at the top side. If it's early 1999 it may not work. Late 1999 it should, but you'll need to have a look Obd2: most elm327 chips don't work with subies. Some do, I never bothered and just bought a tactrix cable. The best app out there atm is an Android app called btssm, their own Bluetooth plugs work
  23. Yeah, high pressure zones are a thing. The plastic under trays are functional, they create a low pressure zone around the gearbox helping draw air through the engine bay. Worth looking at a nice alloy undertray to help out there ;-)
  24. It will loose it's learned values, things like the fine fuel trims and air flow correction levels, but it will re learn those values really quickly. You can happily pull the ecu out and wave it around, it won't blitz itself. What does kill them is turning the car off mid re-flash, or if a flash fails. If you are doing a re-flash, and for whatever the flash fails, DO NOT TURN IT OFF!!!!! Sort out your laptop issues, then re attempt the flash. Don't ever touch that key until the reflash program says you can.
  25. Gulls 10% ethanol should have an effect. More fuel usage, but less knock. I do know of a few people who have had their cars run worse on it, some run better. If I remember correctly, Subaru has recommended that none of their cars from Japan should be run on any fuel with ethanol content. I would strongly recommend having a chat to @Pappu1 about getting your tune looked over, and potentially adjusted
