  1. it does drive me insane lol! i like the idea of some sort of box and have seen some examples online but haven't heard much of their dampening qualities. i have this suspicion that if it's not done quite right, it'll end up acting like an amplifier haha. it would also probably be illegal and not too safe given that electrical cable is right there and in case of fuel leak, the fuel will pool up rather than drain away as per LVV requirement. nah but good thinking! i also thought it was that at first so i removed the mounting plate and just sat it on a cushion for a bit, tried grabbing it etc. to see if anything vibrating but it's coming from inside. was wondering if anyone on the forum has had this issue and how they may have tackled it? i'd be keen to try those sound dampening matts /whatever people use to reinforce the boot firewall but it's a large amount of $$ to drop if it doesn't work
  2. So I got a Bosche 044 Fuel pump in the boot, it's super noisy! My exhaust is pretty damn loud and yet the fuel pump can be heard over this. any ideas how to dampen that noise? it's wrapped in rubber where it's mounted and the mount is not vibrating so not resonating the noise any further, but the pump it self is bloody loud. be real interested to see what other people have. here's a sound clip, not my own recording but close to what it sounds like. that high pitch noise is pretty hard to ignore and drives me nuts. if i play the music loud it can hide it, but sometimes i just like cruising with all the music off and enjoy the sounds of the car. and pic of current setup in boot - single bosche 044 to anti surge tank.
  3. ahh what a nostalgic topic, just took me back 11 years back mate! my first ever car was a 1991 Toyota MR2 G Ltd, 5 spd manual n/a. i was 16 years old at the time and it was the best bad decision i ever made. slaved so hard for it through various odd jobs, paperboy duties and a retail job that robbed me of social life and crushed my soul but every time i went out for a ride life was just right..nothing i've driven has given me quite as much of a thrill as this little n/a beast until recently when i got the STI. the prospect of driving it anywhere would excite me so much, i felt like a real race car driver when getting in to it. my dream car was a ferrari 355 and i think whenever i looked at this toyota, i saw a ferrari, atleast thats how i felt shortly after getting it i remember pretty quickly blowing another few grand on upgrading the sounds, getting some upgraded TRD shocks and ofcourse the mandatory pod filter install which probably made it breathe hot air and perform worse.. but it sounded nice. when i got it, it had some economy tyres which when paired with the snap oversteer qualities of this poor mans ferrari and a throttle happy teenager was quite a deadly combination. after spinning out one too many times even at very moderate speeds, i ended up buying some skyline GTS mags off a mate in the MR2Club and wrapping them in T1Rs which kept me alive for the remaining 3 years i had the car before changing to a more 'mature' car with more doors/seats, no leaks and less k's. only real downside was that it had leaky targa tops which leaked back even after replacing the seals so in rainy weather i'd always have to sit on some plastic bags to keep my butt dry. wish i had taken more photos!
  4. their search algorithm is pretty bad.. i would expect if you even just type new zealand, it shows all tribes containing new zealand in the name. here is the link for anyone who may be stuck looking for it https://www.drivetribe.com/t/Lzqmt61zQbu6cRGLmj6iWg/HymDDfvBTq2qU9BFtz_hJQ
  5. just signed up tos ite but can't find the tribe mate. please go to the tribe page and copy and paste the link to here

  8. bummer, just done the math it's only a $1 saving. looks like for some reason if you ordering more than 1 it switches from china mail to fedex ;\
  9. looks like 2-3 ppl in this thread want that, just do a group buy save on shipping
  10. Holy crap, that torque !!! #goals man. Once I get my baseline gonna have to start planning out what's needed next , this thread gonna be super useful
  11. I've asked for a pic of mine to be taken in Tuesday/Wednesday when it's on the dyno
  12. lol i failed massively didn't i ! should have grabbed the photo before i drove back home. /d'oh! if the the shot counts, i'm happy to go out somewhere and take a pick with the pbms car to keep things moving
  13. i love my emails, can shoot em off to multiple places at the same time, on my own time. in this day and age it's not unreasonable to expect a response within 1-2 business days... and calling back when they say they will is customer service 101.
  14. awesome, i'll try think up a crafty way to relocate my siren and supporting wiring somewhere hard to reach. haven't used the built in steering lock before as had a bad experience on an old car where it was ridiculously hard to undo, broke the key while doing so and had to call in a locksmith /fail. will also try to research the model of alarm i have and find this alarm brain , relocate / hide and secure that away. its hard to pick a 'safe' parking spot when you're going hiking out in random as places away from civilization unfortunately, hence the paranoia.
  15. dunno if this is specific to the hsv form or not but its all a quick google would show me, surprised they don't have the specific info on the pukekohe circuit page source : http://www.hsvc.co.nz/forms/PUKEKOHE PLAY DAY.pdf SAFETY REQUIREMENTS It is compulsory for all drivers and passengers to wear covered shoes, long sleeved clothing (no shorts or tee shirts allowed), helmet and neck brace as a minimum standard (approved race suits or 100% cotton overalls, gloves and other safety apparel are optional) Helmets and neck braces will be available for hire at the track on the day of the event for any driver or passenger that does not have them Seat belts MUST be worn by the occupants of all vehicles while on the circuit All participants must exercise due care at all times and not act in a reckless or dangerous manner An ambulance and fire extinguishers will be on site as part of the Circuit and Facilities Hire Agreement
  16. to add to this without targeting any person in particular. before you pick someone for LVV cert, understand depending on who you get, it could be a long and dragged out process. the requirements are there in black and white but also seems a lot of it is up to the judgement of the certifier so very subjective. update your WOF and stuff before you do any mods requiring cert and ask around about your options for certifier, what other peoples experiences have been who they would or wouldn't recommend. edit : oh, and because of the price ($600 at time of writing this), try to get all your work done before going for the cert otherwise you will have to pay the price again later.
  17. nek minit they break in just to steal the iphone and gap the scene. i suspect for this to work you'd want to hide it in a place that's really hard to access. question about immobilisers. i have a 5 star car alarm, is the immobilizer good enough to stop someone from being able to take the care other than by towing it? its got a loud ass alarm siren too but i guess that is easily shut up by cutting the cable to it. famous last words but i'm not that concerned about anyone towing it away, more concerned about the smash and grab opportunist types also have 1 locknut on each wheel and intend on putting the locknut somewhere a bit more secure too
  18. thanks @A_J_T , been using my ancient iphone for music, will chuck in a sim card and enable location services.
  19. any particular software or just trackmyiphone?
  20. get a quote first , if they're stock and they're buggered to the point it's wobbly it might be more economical to buy a new set of stock ones
  21. good point, editing my OP nothing specific about where you putting switches or anything guys! just roughly deterrent type stuff
  22. I know it's not what you're asking but FWIW I've used Arrow before, highly recommend them. The repair / powdercoat job held up for the entire 6 years I owned the car. They also let me borrow set of wheels/tyres for a week while they had mine for repair so all up relatively convenient.
  23. Hey not sure if the best section but hey, looking for tips on general theft prevention stuff. Have 5 star car alarm but forever paranoid as it's my daily. Currently considering getting something like a steering wheel lock as further deterrent, something bright stop them even wanting to try get in from the outside. edit : public forum, nothing specific about where you putting switches or anything guys! just roughly deterrent type stuff one could do to make lives of theif scumbags harder
  24. keen too and also can't make to the CS event due to a wedding lol. didn't even know we had tracks in auckland that the public could ride on, mind blown haha! would love to actually test the limits of the car in a legal environment at some point
