  1. good info thanks, its amazing how much you can control there @sobanoodle have heard about the alpina tcu flash, everyone who has a compatible beemer raves on about it.
  2. yeah would be interested in some info about what that 250gb is made up of man, is that like a 'dealers' kit kind of thing which would have firmwares/maps of every single bmw or something along with manuals? @sobanoodle . also the nerd inside me gets really excited thinking of all the stuff you can control with your software lol
  3. yep its out bro, i'll pick it up from Ajay next weekend when i go back for exhaust. can come with pretty much all pictured stuff including fittings/hoses/stands/bracket. i should note the bosch044 pump is just a freebie not intending on selling that to anyone under false claims, i recommend not installing that but its yours free if want it. it held pressures just fine but it was getting noisier which i think is bad sign. lift pump still sweet , can include that too. pm me what ya want it for , not overly fussy . note alumnium stand had fuel leaked on it during de-install so you'd need to repaint it if want a fashionable look from it like below
  4. @Joker is going to get a modern car, my goodness these are exciting times indeed! (then you'll be able to say my car is from the olden days lol!)
  5. car got driven a good 250km or so today road trip style, much traffic means not much boost was enjoyed for the most part but was good to be driving again after so long. washed the car and vacuum'ed inside a little bit gettin her a little tidier for the auckland sub meet tomorrow. hope to catch a few of you there tomorrow
  6. bought his old one from @evowrx , is Dynomax VT , from the name it will max dyno results based on formula of velocity x time might not look that cool when fitted but it's gonna go a long ways towards my enjoyment of car
  7. picked up the car from @Subirex Automotive, it got some servicing loving and finally removed that noisy bosch044 thats been driving me nuts for oh so long. what a pleasure it was to drive home the AEM 320 is pretty much silent, you only hear a very quiet little high pitch sound when you open the boot but other than that it ain't nothin, not even from passengar seat. Ajay neatly ran the new lines (after removing surge tank etc.) underneath car so nice tidy job too instead of shortcut way i was picturing in my head of just going through the trunk with the old lines haha. Going back next weekend for the exhaust and i think i'll have a car that I'm pretty happy to keep for some time to come. Engine bay looking better now too, will try clean it up during week and take some pics.
  8. because they are tuning your factory ecu, which has a very good boost control algorithm anyway and has added benefit of few satety features such as boost limit based on hot intake temp, raditor or oil temp or other bad condition just to name a few.
  9. yep mine too.. engine breaking noise from tranny is quite noticable but not overly terrible. any sound clips of yours @YoungOne
  10. comes on boost quickly which is nice, that's really decent top end too.. i'd trade down a measly 7kw from where i am and take that kind of response any day haha. what turbo is this anyway?
  11. also putting anything like mesh in front of it directly hampers the intercoolesr efficiency as there is less total air moving across all the fins and they flow slightly differently to how it was designed. people will say it makes bugger all difference but theoretically atleast you are blocking a large percentage of the surface area of an object which is supposed to function as air to air cooling
  12. haha yeah warning noted, i think if anything i may play with my cyclic idle just to get it sounding a bit better when i switch it on, anti lag it self i guess they set it like that for a reason and i probably won't tinker with that.
  13. there are too many holes on your numberplate bro they are going to mess with the aerodynamics of this vehicle. ideally you should install a roof scoop asap and paint the wheels white to offset this
  14. or make a little adaptor plate so you arent drilling in to either bumper nor plate
  15. hey so my car when tuned/setup was with two pumps. in tank fuel pump (unkonwn) and external bosch044. bosch is being removed now and im replacing lift pump with a new unit. new setup is just 1 pump, in tank. aem 320. would there be any benefit to setting my new pump for 100% all the time or just leave as default ? from my understanding the default is 33% on cruise, 66% unders ome load and then 100% on WOT, with WOT being probably the only time one needs pump at 100%. bit of mixed info googling around, with many people particularly in american forums suggesting they direct wire their aftermarket pumps to battery bypassing the fuel pump controller, meaning it's at 100% all the time. also with the different flow characteristics i'm expecting minor changes in fuelling, which it should probably trim by it self? if i want to keep an eye on this out of curiosity + paranoia + being a nerd what is the parameter i should be logging? i'm thinking if its doing a lot of trimming in certain areas then i should just adjust those areas of fuel table so it doesn't have to trim (dangerous me doing it i know, curisous and wanna learn ) leading from above, if i do leave the stock settings on new pump then my fuel pressures will be different at different throttle positions meaning fuelling / resulting actual afr will be affected (tuned for bosch044 at 100% vs 33-66% new pump).. or am i actually overthinking this as usual? oh another noob question guys : this setup seems super conservative. what sort of parameters do you want to be monitoring (oil temp, coolant temp, afr?) when working on antilag setup. what would you put in for a 'typical' functional setup, and say one that's more for show (popping/shooting flames)? signed a waiver to get my password and had a really interesting afternoon coming out of my shell reading through all the ecu settings. can really appreciate the things tuners do
  16. Research online and buy local or from my mechanic if not major price difference so margins can go to the places that provide services to me. If big price difference then I'll buy online
  17. Fuel pump aquired, paid the $15 extra for e85 version 'just in case'. geez look how tiny that fuel sock is! Couldn't find oem sock to order in advance, I do hope the one currently in my tank is still a good condition oem one! Off to drop off at ajays tomorrow
  18. awesome have you taken him for a ride? how does he react to boost?
  19. that looks really smooth, bet its a pleasure to drive. what car is this?
  20. mate moving on from a 2.5l boxer turbo pretty much anything else you pick will be saving you a fortune on petrol given how much you drive
