  1. a thumb will spray the fuel much better tho esp if you hold the main feed line cos then you\'ll get around 90 psi of the thumb spray-o-meter Bahahahaha each to there own ... tho ** sit backs and wait to read in the paper .. mechanic burnt by fuel test
  2. 25 psi eng wont start -proven 43 psi eng will start honestly if you can tell the difference with your thumb your a legend !
  3. ecu use\'s cam/crank and coolant temp to start engien - all other sensors are ignored AFM is used once engine is started , so your problem could well be that - can you fit a test unit easiest way to see is to get it put on scan tool and do a data read out - the reason should be pretty clear
  4. Do it this weekend and ill come for a roll haha
  5. has the fan failed - or was the just something in the fan? not a common fail item have you checked inside the heaterbox where the fan sits for debris?
  6. removed glove box and cabin filter - and its right there , super easy to remove debris from inside it
  7. V4 sti coupe Snapped a conrod heading towards Higgins corner at Mansfield done 126kms standard motor V8 sti Afm ran lean and melted piston at 100kms just with daily use nothing to strenuous
  8. ahhh 1.081:1 that works its the final drive gears in the box that give the ratio - The centre diff gears wont move unless there is slip at either end of the car
  9. centre diff can only be 1:1 Even if the output gearset in the back of the gearbox worked at a 1.1:1 ratio - there isnt a front and rear diff ratio that would work to give even front and rear diff output speeds (sits back and waits to be corrected)
  10. 11 km per ltr which is around 9.0l/100km highway 8 km /ltr or around 12.5l/100km city
  11. 99% of the time both DOHC NA and turbo version are perfectly fine Yes they are interference but due to the design with 4 cams - the cams roll onto the back of the lobes when the belt breaks which leaves the valves shut Evo\'s etc with only two cams - end up with 4 or more valves left open when the cams stop
  12. correct - it would have to have bent valves on ALL cylinders to not even run
  13. really? - is he 1000% sure the belt timing is correct? This is almost unheard of
  14. unless its got aftermarket cams 99% chance it will be fine with a new belt
  15. top end cars you refer to are supercars - I occasionally work on the following cars Lambo Gallardo, Ferrari super America , 996 GT2 , 997 GT3RS , 997 Turbo - They are all factory dry sumped. These cars are true race bred - have millions more spent on design and have decent sized engines (not like the lil 2.0 or 2.5 in our Sub\'s) - They can handle pretty much any muppet behind the wheel. They are effectively the opposite of what this thread refers to in regards to road cars being raced, as they are race cars being driven on the road
  16. the stress\'ss put on a vehicles engine , driveline and tyres on track is inifintly more than on any road You dont melt tyre rubber on the road ( unless your doing burnouts) - yet 5 laps on most tracks will melt tyre rubber Oil temps go through the roof on track G forces are higher for longer periods = oil and fuel surge issues If you want a racecar - buy one for the job A std subaru isnt up to the job (if you want it to last)
  17. Warranty claims assessor\'s also look at items that are tell tales of racing Rubber in the wheel arches - condition of tyres - condition of brakes (heat colouring in rotors) - exhaust mods - ecu\'s - etc Sure most items you can hide, and you may get away with getting a claim approved but its fraudulent - and getting caught has implications trackdays are regarded as racing by most mechanical warranty co
