  1. anyone in chch can goto japrace spears (and safe R exhausts for any exhaust work-really good guy there highly recommended) I did this mod recently an its made my cars NUTS like compared to what it was before hand it was just awesome to drive with the new pipe unfortunately i've since done something to my waste gate an haven't had a chance to really test it out guy at shop reckoned 20hp gains + which is probably around about right but its the way the car pulls that will surprise you highly recommend this CHEAP mod to gain power but you will need to leave midpipe cat in for wof just so ya know, I didn't and it gave my car a crap farty sound which I got pinged for at wof, since then spent 150$ an got a resonator put in an a baffled tip-car is now barely noticeable when you drive past but still has performance equal to the catless setup

  3. I've never really had any trouble from police an found them to be very reasonable when I have dealt with them. I had this one occasion where I had brought a new project car, a mini. I picked it up from timaru (1.30 drive) after work one night... on the way back when it was getting dark I get pulled over for no reason Cops comes over an says hey your trailer lights aren't on... I say oh thats annoying its a hire trailer he proceeds to give me a fine an then goes on to say theres no shops open (in temuka) and that I HAVE to go back to timaru to get fuses an fix the problem. I argue my point an its obvious hes just being difficult. I agree to go back to timaru 20$ of petrol later an 20$ of fuses I do the whole drive home in pitch black with no trailer lights -when he pulled me over it was dusk an I probably woulda made alota ground before pitch black moral of the story, it depends on who ya get, this time it was a pointless waste of my time an money an didn't help anyone or solve any problems lol(except get him some points on his monthly quota)

  5. the turbo ones are the ones that are "unreliable" an they're not really unreliable its just how they get treated, wrong petrol not enough oil changes young people thrashing them all day long ect ect an honestly.... does anyone know any 200+hp cars that make it past 300km easy without some sort of major repairs? any to anyone who says they expensive to fix just say to them do they actually know that or just talking shit? last time I checked stubaru does cambelts for 280$... once got quoted 1500$ for a clutch change O_O because of the intercooler was so hard to remove... I was like wow really want me to do it ? it depends who you go to an what you want done.... my rant over, got an ignorant fuck at work who constantly coming out with bs like that about subarus, i just say all good well you wont be wanting to ride in it EVER

  7. sorry to post again but this has got me stumped today i took off all the intake again, no cracked vacuum lines or anything. noticed the intercooler pipe was sitting abit off on the turbo so put that back into place again did all the connections up nice an tight started her up felt around for boost leaks -nothing but bov leak around the pipe joiner all seemed to be well but still the same problem ? gets upto 4.5-5k an just starts boosting... its really annoying not knowing whats wrong I used a subaru uppipe from a guy on here, should be all the same size uppipe under the heat shroud aye? starting to wonder weither its just the wrong size pipe now

  9. yea I should have updated this topic The pipe was so brittle that I thought it was metal at first, took me about 20mins to get it off an had to be cut in the end. After I did all that it took me another 30mins of bs to get the bolt off because I could still only do 2 socket clicks at a time >.< anyways all came off all got replaced with new gaskets an some maniseal an reinstall went smoothly only problem was I did something to the wastegate when I was grinding the bolts off the old up pipe an now the car doesn't boost properly : It probably isn't adjusted right or slightly bent the metal pipe piece or something Now boost doesn't hit in until after 5000 an even then its very very poor. Its annoying because it was going so well after the downpipe was replaced made such a massive difference in pull and kinda gave me that spark to continue fixing her up.Now i've lost interest again hahhaha but still done a few little things like replaced the shitty bov an a broken airbox lately its been all one step forward two steps back
  10. Hey im going to look at a old rs legacy box for my suby . Guy reckons its good condition (150kms) an working fine. I've never brought a gearbox before so is there anything I need to check before I buy it? an will it be ok to use on an v2sti? ratios match up but I read my box has double cone syncros where as this one doesn't... and there is quite abit power difference with my car an legacy... Its cheap,local, an matches my current ratio unlike any other box on Trademe in my price range oh an my box is a ty752vb4aa
  11. I like the lights alot, an overall id give it say 7/10 Back kinda looks as if they got abit lego an "clipped" it on or something an the flares/guards dont suit for the style of car it is... bring back the mudflaps

  14. I was actually wondering about this same issue because I am buying a new gearbox in a week or 2... I have a 4.1 dif an the sti box im looking at is 4.4 so what is required to make this box work in my car?
  15. haha this thread is gold* If it makes you feel any better, I recently took my downpipe of an replaced it(car went insane for 5kms) only to find it was the uppipe leaking (wishful thinking I know) so then took it all out AGAIN an replaced all gaskets grinded off all welded shut bolts ect ect, 12hours of bullsht latter an now my turbo doesn't boost at all an car goes s*** ALSO + 1 on roccos story , alota $$ spent there lol

    pretty sure td05 doesn't take long to spool, but depends on which one i guess, mine starts at about 2800 an full boost by like 3300/3500 - struggles abit after 5500 though
  22. got my sparks for 35$ just so ya know, an was told that was rip off goto butler or try find someone with a trade account somewhere.50$ is way overpriced
