  1. I gotta say seeing all these new school wagons is making me really want one Some seriously nice cars in this thread!
  2. Get the white line Rex on rails specs (Google it). It's a very very good setup on a factory car
  3. good tyres will give the best bang for buck over any mod you can do generally people go for rear sway bar/links/bushes before front
  4. If it's fuel on the back seat it will either be the gasket seal on the top of tank for the fuel pump cradle or a split hose off the cradle that is spraying under pressure (unlikely)
  5. some peeps have reported fuel smell from using rubber hose on split fuel mods, Not sure what that photo is of? Can't really tell what it is. As far as I know there shouldn't be any liquid in there tho... Also check the fuel pump rubber seal hasn't been damaged
  6. not too hard to swap out yourself just time consuming and fiddly with all the clips an that
  7. cheers koom, went and grabbed that kit today. They wouldn't even give me trade discount certainly not much incentive to shop local with genuine helicoil kits on ebay at $60. Sometimes I hate living in NZ.
  8. Hey so gave my local engineering supplies shop a buzz regarding grabbing a kit for a m14x1.5 kit quoted me $400 retail minus a trade discount lol. Can get online for like $50 for the same brand... Which seems rather odd. Anyone know a place that might stock them that isn't charging like a wounded bull? Cheers Sam
  9. You can do it on partsouq with the model number thing. If you don't have it just find a car that has same setup on trademe and use carjam to pull up the chassis number info for the car
  10. so do you have more pics? impossible to tell without a pic of the bores ect... even then it could have been Frankenstein together
  11. Can't tell from that photo... pre 98 is all we can tell at this stage. need pics of rocker covers on and off
  12. I screwed that post up when I tried to copy paste something into it lol. this is what the inside of it looks like basically So if it spins without oil it will get hot and die after a short amount of time. I dunno if the pump could have starved your turbo though? If metal contaminants has been through it while hot that could probably damage it
  13. a stuffed turbo certainly can make a noise from the bearing/rotating assembly, how ever it is pretty unlikely/uncommon and you would probably know about the turbo being damaged long before a journal bearing actually gave up or made a audible noise and it would likely be related to oil starvation problem They don't run a traditional type of bearing(not a ball bearing thing) it's a journal bearing so it's sorta like a metal ring with holes in the middle(for oil) fitted to a shaft that is lubricated with oil, hard to describe lol just youtube td05 rebuild and you'll see what I mean. They generally don't fail and make a "bearing noise" they usually just leak oil very badly and smoke out the exhaust ect
  14. Why's that Evowrx? They're a sponsor over at DOBC, few guys there have used with success and haven't seen any complaints. Don't buy a second hand turbo they're always a gamble, rebuilt is a way smarter option. Could be worth looking into upgrading to a second hand td05 for a bit of extra power and having that rebuilt instead (care for cracks in exhaust housing near the center clamp piece, they crack in the lip under the clamp)
  15. I'm not blaming him.. never said that and it's not his fault cnuts steal lol. I just think it's madness to not protect your investment, especially when it's known how easy these cars are to steal. Also there seems to be a run of subarus going missing in CHCH of late, I can think or 3-4 cars off top of my head in last 2 months all rare and sought after types too, not ****box wrx's. People shouldn't be scum and steal that is my view... But to not protect your high risk investment with a basic kill switch which takes all of what 1hr to install. Simply put it's a bit dumb. IMO -> people who steal and get caught should have to payback all victims with an interest rate of 12% which is automatically taken out of their earnings via a tax code once they earn XXX amount in a week. e.g say you earn $600 a week they tax you an additional 50% once over a fair and livable allowance e.g anything over $500 and it should go directly to the victims of the crime, but hey that's not going to happen. Be lucky if you even get the full amount with our **** system. Certainly not even remotely the same as blaming a rape victim don't be a tard, the 2 are not comparable in the slightest.
  16. So sad How ever... Guy has no alarm, kill switch or gps... I mean cmon! Hoping he has insurance for his own sake. Almost a bit sus having spent all that $$ an yet they steal it in a matter of seconds with what appears to be a key? Possibly inside job from someone who has worked on it in the past or insurance fraud? Spends thousands on expensive rare car and doesn't even put in a basic security measure... I offered to share it on all the local car facebook pages but he never got back to me eh...
  17. Check it drives properly and isn't running wastegate or something(should be 15psi+), check the CEL actually works and isn't blanked off. Check rocker covers for leaks, check coolant condition, make sure it's not pushing coolant out of the overflow or exhaust (white smoke). You really need to drive it hard for a good 10-20mins to know what condition the engines is in... Has to be checked, some head gaskets leaks can be fine around town and daily driving but the minute you go for a actual boost on the hills or something it leaks. TBH if you don't know what to look for just pay the $150 and get it checked by a company e.g compression tested and TK test. $150 spent now could save you 3k on a engine rebuild later. Why risk it

    get a train horn
  19. Haha they're taking you for a ride. Cost was like under $200 for 18s last I checked. Pretty sure retail should be around 250+gst. Shop around (prices could have changed for all I know) I'd say they're quoting above retail so they can cover the loss of profit in the 3+1 deal. It's a **** company design, they have literally no rules around pricing or anything, so you get some guys that are just dicks and price full retail +$20 a tyre fitting and then you get other who will gladly give you a nice price. Maybe mention you're in a car club and see if that helps your cause
  20. cheapest way is to buy through bridgestone with the buy 3 get 1 free deal. They should be around 250 retail
  21. so many butt hurt sandy vaginas on this forum
  22. Try get a fuel pressure gauge/readout. I'd expect if it's pump/fpr related you will be down on fuel pressure. Otherwise there's not much else that can go wrong with them, bar bad wiring and a block in the injector itself. You can take them out and flow test them for under $50 (assuming you don't need seals). Although unrelated, check your engine grounds are all good they can give weirdo problems if they're not. failing that if you're sure it's got full power at pump you'd probably have to plug it into a laptop and see what the tune is upto..?
  23. Have you checked voltage actually getting to the pump?
  24. haha I love my rubber gloves... They stop you getting cut and oil in said cuts when you bump your hand it just hurts instead of grazing and bleeding
