  1. How do I remove windscreen wipers easy? Tried levering with screwdriver, and upholstery forked screwdriver - but levering off of windscreen or plastic insert would end in disaster. Ended up using a gearpuller - is there an easier way?
  2. I have a very standard sound system with a 50Wx4 rms headunit, 6½" splits at the front, and 6½" rear speakers. After many many (8 actually) years the rear speakers have finally blown their cones apart. Can someone suggest a quality speaker that will do a fine job? Either a plug-in 6½" replacement, or a larger speaker with faithful base (doesn't need to be low cut-off - just good quality sound) that will fit the cutout. Cutout is quite a big oval shape. Car is GC8 coupe.
  3. Yes youaredoingitright. Always go hard with accelerator brake clutch and handbrake.
  4. I'm selling my EVC5 EBC. Bought it then changed direction. Selling for $600, new they are $1100. http://www.speedtechnz.com/shop/Boost+Controllers/HKS+EVC+5+Electronic+Boost+Controller.html
  5. Yes indeed, but put the wire on the fused side of the positive supply
  6. That looks like 'aftermarket' wiring. The fuse is for radio? so maybe some audiophile stuck in rangi bigger cable to reduce volt drop to radio or sub or subs?
  7. What a stupid place to put a hay bale.
  8. To reinforce what Dave said: From my user perspective I used 2-pot calipers and 270mm discs on my Legacy on the track for 5 years and they worked extremely well provided I put in fresh good fluid before each day and had lots of meat on the aftermarket pads. I got overheating on all track days by the end of the day and the fluid boiled. And now I use 4-pot calipers and 290mm discs on my Impreza on the track for another 5 years and they also work extremely well as long as I put in fresh good fluid before each day and have lots of meat on the aftermarket pads. I get overheating on all track days by the end of the day and the fluid still boils, but I'm a casual driver so don't really care so much as long as I get through the day. Short summary: Both work really well if you care for them.
  9. Here's mine. It had a broken washer in the rear diff. That was causing the smoke.
  10. Finally - a self-parking toaster
  11. 101.3kPa = 1 atmosphere = 14.4psi QED
  12. And you don't fail permanently 1st time - you get 3 chances to stack it before you fail.
  13. Looks like it's got Tetris L-blocks in the bumper
  14. I've had 3x 5-PUK ceramic clutches. They are a b!tch to drive in traffic. The shudder and you have to rev the car a bit to take up the clutch. Absolutely fantastic for any trackwork at all! Can't fault them. But for daily driving, especially in stop-start traffic, would recommend that you avoid. PS am assuming your 5-PUK is the same as my 5-PUK ceramic. :\
  15. Scoobydoo is famous - his name is on the bowls honours board!
  16. Some track days have standing starts. Some very low key ones with plenty of time give you standing starts. Then at the other end of the clubsport (typed in clubsub ) there is an advanced '6x6' track day where 6 of you do a standing start in gridded formation. They seed you based on the day's earlier times so there's not likely to be much passing. It's an adrenalin step up from dual track days. And den... some track days are actually a sealed autocross creatively using most of a racetrack in unusual formations. They are standing starts. I added up my launches and would probably do over 50-60 per year. If you carefully launch : ;D , clutch and gearbox last a very long time.
  17. Obviously the car goes into emergency flight mode and pre-opens escape hatches for occupants. That's an advanced feature only a few cars are known to have.
  18. I have to do this to get off the start line quickly at motorsport events. There's a knack to it for my car. MIne likes aroung 5500rpm, then I let out the clutch fast (not side-stepping) off it. Sometimes it goes like magic, sometimes it bogs if the revs are a little low.
  19. It wasn't locked yesterday. Just the bar closed across the road and the padlock locked but not into the post ... so I just pushed it open.
  20. As an experiment, turn off your a/c when you're idling at the traffic lights. See if that removes the shaking.
