  1. so you only going to amp the sub? a 4ch in 3way mode will give you a much better result, those Pioneers will need more juice than the HU will put out to sound any good for sure. I think you might regret not amping them once installed, I had the same ones they really do need atleast a clean 50wrms to them. I mounted my Eclipse EA4000 4ch under the false floor in the back of my wagon sitting in the large compartment of the foam insert, you would never know it was there, works mint and never gets too hot, bought second hand for $130 odd and is bulletproof. *edit* this would be a great little 4ch on a budget http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-stereos/amplifiers/4-channel/auction-658375116.htm
  2. Just had a thought, check how tight the glovebox closes, if that\'s loose it could be vibrating. mine did that when I first got it.
  3. Dynamat is your friend. Custom kit can be found quite cheaply if you don\'t need too much, but double door kit best option if budget allows. Definitely worth it. I put a 10" or so square of deadener directly behind the mid on the door skin, and mold the dynamat up around the speaker ring base (if using MDf) lastly cover any large voids with rest. Made a huge difference to mine. 2c
  4. very nice man! are they actual B8 RS3 mags? or copies, they look really good. I guess Audi did copy the lines of our BP\'s when they made the B7 RS wagon anyway
  5. Yep as Spark said, sound deadening makes a huge difference, I\'d say first get a 4ch amp with decent power at least a true 50w rms+ per ch, deaden the doors then look at tuning, if in the budget an after market processor will work wonders. And if your going for sound quality, forget the 6x9\'s in the rear concentrate on really good 6.5" set for front then amp them, and run the rears off headunit and give it a good tune, tuning imo is the most important part. Average speakers can sound OK with good tune, but great speakers can easily sound s*** with a bad one. The 6.5" Jbl Ms 62c fronts that i installed a while back put out enough bass to keep most happy if you really dont want a sub, I thoroughly recommend them, but they are a US (eBay) import only though at this point.

    Android powered ICE

I was planning the same sort of install, but removeable for my nexus 7 in my BP. But my biggest worry is how the heat of the cabin/direct sunlight will kill the tablet pretty quick in summer especially no..?
  7. god damn that looks nice with black on black!

    RCA Leads?

Stinger can be had cheaply on Ebay, pretty good for the money. I got some 5m 2>2 mid level rca\'s and they are great. similar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/STINGER-SPI2217-2-Channel-17ft-5m-PRO2-Series-Interconnect-RCA-Lead-/250995733487?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a7082f3ef but those ones Scoobydoo has are probably the best deal if they are still tight fitting etc.
  9. came across this link today, could be a life saver for someone doing a transplant etc. http://phantomotaku.com/SVX/011822-MSA5P0631C.pdf if not already could a mod please sticky this or add to existing links?
  10. While on the topic of big booties, anyone seen the new McLaren P1? it has actual ass cheeks. http://revivalsportscars.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/McLaren-P1-Supercar-Paris-Motorshow-rear-view.jpg
  11. I converted my 04 to a single din unit up in the top of dash, with an Avojdm kit. works great and is much safer for changing on the fly, as you don\'t have to look down far, and the rest stays stock in case you want to put back to sell etc. Happy to post a pic if you like?
  12. Lol, if that doesn\'t work....http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96642&hl=Fullers
  13. ^^haha. \'aggressive tuning\' options, there you go.
  14. Pretty clever decision imo leaving it n/a, avoids any warranty issues for Toyota/Subaru up to these 3rd parties, I\'d say there will be so many power up options available shortly, the problem will just be choosing which one.
  15. Yeah sounds about right, though from what I can tell one of the benefit of the Prius spec tyres is the laugh out loud tail-happiness, which may not be so enjoyable with grippier tyres with the stock power output anyway.
  16. For sure bro on both counts, ok the seats are nice but that's it. you can't tell me that's the best they could do...look at the Swift sports interior/console/quality for only 28g retail, let's face it its what you are staring at 99% of the time, it really was an after thought. what did you think? I hope you got to take it through a section of the Para's? you would have to know them pretty well being up that way yeah? I wasn't game enough to turn off the TCS completely, but it was spoiling the party really early in the Sport setting while powering through tight corners.
  17. Test drove an 86 today as there is one at Toyota here in Wanganui, to my horror it was an auto...why oh why they would choose a slusher as a demo? I have no idea, but it did have the TRD kit and nice charcoal 18s so looked the biz, interior is truely horrible though and would possibly be a deal breaker for me. We found the twistiest bit of open road we could find, and yeah pretty impressed, you would have some serious fun in a manual one the handling is really all its hyped up to be, VERY firm though, but don't know if this as due to to 18 inch 40s on a car setup for 16s? 2c
  18. Check out 'mighty car mods' on YouTube, 'intake myths tested' I think its called worth a watch before waste your money. 2c
  19. I wouldn't go near those tardme ones if I was you, and your going to all that trouble with the enclosures. pricey but high end performance. http://www.hyper.co.nz/drive/product/subs/130/sub-8-inch-rf-8w-180w-rms-4-ohm-dvc/153668/detail This would be my choice, a great value sub, I have the 10" version of this and it is wiked, punchy as hell and needs very little breathing space, high sensitivity so its efficient, and comparatively shallow mount depth http://www.onlinecaraudio.co.nz/JBL_GTO804 dunno about this one but another option http://www.onlinecaraudio.co.nz/Infinity_REF860W
  20. Sorry for the O\T I recommend anyone in the market (or just an enthusiast ) takes one for a blat, suspension tweaks and interior changes etc have really refined the drive. Don't bother with horrid CVT its a totally different car.
  21. Motors a great mag for sure. And yeah pretty interesting huh? Wouldn't have thought the twins would have been handed their asses by the swift sport and polo gti. But in saying that the newest swift sport (6 speed man only, CVT is crap) is the most fun car I've ever driven, and if I was looking for an all round reliable runner/ weekend thrasher, the swift is nearly impossible to beat for the money IMO, if I had the cash I'd buy one tomorrow, then tint the windows.
  22. for another option, I find 10w40 valvoline Vr1 racing is a good all rounder and i have used it in all my cars, bit pricey when not on special but comes in 5lt and is under $50 fairly often at Super crap. though mine needs over 5lts.. i usually get around both issues by buying 2-3 at a time
  23. just get a dynamat speaker kit or even better door kit and be done with it. at least you know it works and wont stink come summer time.
  24. definately worth atleast the speaker kit if you have amped fronts, more solid midbass, after doing mine I had much more 'upfront' sounding bass, and less rattles etc as a bonus. haven't done the whole door just around each front comp. that flashing stuff above looks like a good deal, as long as it doesn't have a tar like material that stinks when gets really hot? some do.
