Some simple newb questions

Just got my first sub a 96 GT auto (yeah yeah I know ???). Was testing it out the other night and tried the ABS and it didnt seem to have any as the back tires locked up. Which led me to look for the abs sticker on the back. Nope no sticker. So it leads me to beleive this car has no ABS, can this be correct? It has a funny subaru winning the rally for a few years medal on the back under the GT badge. COuld this be some crap non abs version?

Also seems to be pretty gutless in first and second but significantly more powerful over 80km why is that? Does the auto limit the power or something?

not all came with ABS, if your car doesn't have anything to say it has ABS then you will find it probably doesn't lol

auto being 4 speed, the ratios may be better for the higher gears.

Yep no ABS good. So I understand the gearing thing but it feels like it doesn't deliver the full power output unless in 3rd gear. Thinking this is some safety thing to save the auto box or something. Not that much point full power at well over the speed limit.

Auto will be shifting into VOD most probably.

Well, first of all, no ABS does not denote a crap car by any means (in fact, quote the opposite in the odd case). With the early twin turbo's, it was optional i think. Just that, an option if you wanted it or not when you bought your brand new GT back in 95.

Either way, the ABS thingie bob lives in the engine bay. While looking into the engine bay, down to your left, and directly in front of you is the air intake. Underneath that there should be a little cube with a bunch of pipes sprouting off it. If that's not there, and there's just empty space, you have no ABS. If it is there, your abs might simply be not working.

Also, VOD is being mentioned. If you don't know what that is, VOD = Valley of Death, the gap between primary and secondary turbo. Usually referring to when you 'fall into vod', by changing gear during the crossover, that will kill all your boost and make the car a slug.

You probably find if u fitted a boost gauge its not making full boost in the lower gears.

Higher gears put more load on the engine and you get more boost.

THanks for the replies. Can confirm no abs so glad for that one less thing to go wrong. Also not too keen on pulling 5000rpm in third as somone has pointed out. So next step can one expect to get full boost on lower gears or is this an auto thing? Secondly how much boost are these supposed to produce?

0-100km was about 10 secs.

Yeah the first turb does its thing and then the VOD comes in but the full boost on first and second seems very light until third gear.

Might have to get a boost gauge and see. What are other Auto GT owners getting?

Primary 12 - 13psi Secondary 15 - 16 psi

I bought a zerosports seq controller which made all the difference, basically twin turbo seems broken without it.

GT is entry level, fun for a while and quite reliable.... but you need more.

I'm selling my house and with re-finance, upgrading subie, yeaah 8)

Cheers, will test boost then see what the results are. Checked the standard stats and around 7.2 secs seems normal for a stock Gt Auto now need to find out why its doing it in around 10secs. Are there any other ideas? reset the ecu

dude.. the turbos are old.. things arent brand spankers..

no way you can expect factory specs from it now..

if you want "Speed/performance" sell it for a wrx or a turbz legacy..

twin turbo is only cool if your 40 and like towing your boat..

hence why so many people with TT on here do a single turbo conversion or swap to a single snail model

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
