Cv Joint - OEM Parts or not?

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hey boys and girls - cv joint on driver side is rooted - OEM is silly price! Any reason why not to use good quality non genuine parts for this? V7 STI.

Thanks in advance for replys :)

Sweet as.

I've always used after market and have never had a problem. (not replaced one on a 6 speed yet though).

I did 2 outers on a mates nissan a few years ago, went to see how much originals were and they quoted me over $1600 ex Japan. The guy then told me there is some law about carrying second hand parts for cars they sell for 10 years (i.e. have to carry parts for a car until it is 10 years old) but that they price things so high that they never have to actually sell them. Don;t know if he was full of s**t or not, but sounded good.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update - to all those that need to do any cv's in the future for 6 speed STI its factory parts only!! No one does a aftermarket part(Ripco say they do but as normal when you go to fit it - its f8cking wrong!!)

Cv outer $650 plus - 1 in NewZealand - 10 days x Japan for anything else.

Complete half shaft inc inner and outer $1300 plus - also 1 in New Zealand.

Start saving your pennys :'(

(I got the last 2nd hand complete from Waiuku) ;D

i usually sent people to ADL for cv joints as as far as i am aware they never had a problem with sourcing from adl

GENUINE SUBARU axles are sold as

-outer cv joint fitted to axle shaft with boot kit

- inner cv joint (DOJ) with boot kit

-or complete axle with both joints ready to fit

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
