EJ20K heads on a EJ20H block, CAN IT BE DONE?

Yes, but why? You couldn't really pick a worse block to do it to.

All heads will bolt to all blocks, if you're sticking with 4's. You just need to be wary of required head gasket thicknesses.

Same as what i was saying in the IRC. 20H's are open deck, but from the EJ20G era of engines.

I'd either use the opportunity to get a closed deck block, or go for a later rear thrust block as seen on the Phase-II's and up.

Perhaps he just wants a cheap engine that goes ?

Cause if you make the case for a better block - whats the point of putting wrx heads on it

exactly, thankyou

i have everyone in my ear sayin do this do that, I DONT CARE, LOL

I want a stock engine that goes, yes it will have a VF22 and yellows etc but no big wow factor, all stock. Yes i boost my cars but i dont stay at 8000 RPM for prolonged periods, plus i service them well.

example: If people out there "not in the know" blow their 97-98 WRX /STI engine (which is a K shortie.... same as an H shortie) and simply get the original one rebuilt, they dont complain.... at least not untill the engine is up around 100KMs again, so that generation shorties cant be that bad, specially with someone who looks after their cars.

and adding to the argument - why then not forging some of the internals at the same time and so on and so on.

Its a slippery slope :)

yes,

K, moving on then....

question: are actual JDM WRX heads (to clearify, i am talking about the JDM engines, the ones with all STI bolt on goodies, bar the forged internals, VF22 etc) .....do those engines have actual STI heads?

dont I we know it ;)

and go get em gazzy - your engine will be fun as in stock form - just get the right HG to match correct compression required

I believe the head castings are the same ? but the cams and internals are not ?

Sti = shim under, thats why they have the higher rev limit.

If they are shim under its a good bet they are the same as sti

heres some info for you

GC8D, GC8E, GF8D, GF8 E (so "ver 3" and "Ver 4") all have the same BARE heads

this includes the ej20G puss model engine, EJ20k both wrx and sti versions and 22b all have the same heads during V3 and V4 build years. what differs is everything that bolts to them like valves (2 types), cams (3 types), lifters etc

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
