To get cars to appreciate you need more people to want them to push the price up.

I have not seen a huge demand for old subarus yet.

Usually its a car people wanted when they had no money but now they do have money.

Aka a dream car

So family wagons are not the best cars to appreciate.

Sorry, but that's one of the finest examples of a BF I've seen. I like the Gen 1's, and gen 1 prices are very stable atm... He'll easy get 4.5k for it.

It looks dam good, probably goes pretty well, reliable and you can throw your skis in the back... What's not to like.

I think that's an awesome car.

Writing off a BF5 Legacy as an old family wagon... fail.

Especially given what these things were worth when new!

They weren't intended to be JUST family wagons.

Being old and square isn't a pre-requisite for being nothing, no matter your opinion; look at the AE86. It was a f**king Corolla sh!twagon. They're still sh!tty and ugly. But they bask in the glory of, over 20 years later (25 even!), having an asking price of $6000+ everywhere except Japan. May not like 'em, but they are a cult car.

The Legacy wagons bask in the glory of their sedan counterparts. There's not much difference; they weren't lesser-specced. In fact, they got some pretty neat specs. Legacy GT-Limited. Legacy STi. Legacy GT Type S2, just like the sedan. They weren't just family cars.

You lot may not like them, but they are increasing in popularity...and increasing in price. When I bought my THREE they were cheap, because they were broken...I couldn't afford a complete one. I still can't.

As above, prices are stable. Lurk moar at them...I've been watching for a couple of years now. It's not 1st gens going for cheap, it's 2nd and 3rd gens! Those two will see their second heyday in 10 years or less.

Yes, the big boom is a few years off. But you try having these stickers all over the forum and not have people rattle interest in the old 1st gens ;)

Exactly so when people do come into some money do you buy a nice car like an RS RA etc with the WRC heritage ? or the wagon.

The cult status Legacy is the one driven by McRae, Possum etc.

They were intended to be family wagons, just as the BP wagon is today.

BFs are good value for money and i don't mind the looks and i drive a near mint one often. Very practical car.

That's the funny thing, initially I would have expected people to dodge the wagons and go straight for an RS at least. That was my intention too.

Yet it's almost an even split amongst the folks I've talked to...it will be interesting to see how the population on DOBC grows, given the wagons are talked about just as much.

It's baffling but it's true...the wagons are pretty darn popular for what they are. It's just a damn shame that so many of the few STi wagons were written off. Never met someone who's owned one, but again people who I've spoken to know people who have. Seems it's pretty easy to get carried away and pole them :'(

If anything I'd like to see another GT-Ltd; leather, woodgrain and specced out to buggery. (Wtf is 'self-active??')

Guh I'm going to have to bow out of this. Talking about the wagons and not being able to drive mine is killing me!

Meh, I've owned two of these many years ago, both in better condition. The last one I had was immaculate and only had 70k on it. Still didn't go for $4/5k.

The guy may get lucky and find someone willing to pay that much, but the story with cars like this usually goes; the guy who wants it can't afford it, and the guy who can afford it will be dazzled by the (insert differences here) of the newer model. Especially since for that price band you can get a tidy GTB with 206kw (i know what I would buy).

But to compare this to a 22b or even a version 4/5/6 type r is not really fair. Those, IMO, will be the sort after "classic" subaru's that will command high price tags in years to come.

Kind of like comparing this:

With this:

The wagon is a nice car, but not really a true collectable, and never will be.

And I have pretty much owned every shape of wagon/sports wagon Subaru have made bar the latest legacy and wrx above v7 and would agree that the original legacy were one of the best made by Subaru. Much better than the twin turbo era.

let us not forget that the R32 GTR is now more than 20 years old....and still the best model!!!

Newer does not necessarily mean better.

I still like this legacy. It mint but as mentioned for collectability (who are we kidding no one here is rich enough to "collect" cars) the RS-Ra model is the one of that era.

Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

      Cheers Shaun
