Question about mufflers

Magnolia Down

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Is it possible to get a muffler for a BH Legacy GTB that adds more rumble without being overly loud? Any recommendations or is this a waste of time and only done by 17 year olds who hang out at McDonalds with their 'pimp rides'?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm new and couldn't find much using Search.

Hey, thanks for the quick replies. Is this a case of all muffler shops are pretty much the same or are there any you'd recommend in the Auckland area?

What does putting the exhaust flap on a switch mean and is it WOF-friendly? You can probably tell I'm pretty new at this :)

the bh has a rear muffler that has a flap that open up when you give it the jandal, its in teh back on the passengers side behind the trim. you can re wire it to be allways open or have a switch on it to make it a bit louder when you want

Cheers man, appreciate the help. This is okay for a WOF, right?

I have a 3inch pipe from last flange to 'SR Racing' muffler with 3inch inlet and 5inch HKS Super Dragger tip... not too loud suprisingly, and nice and deep... cost me $100 off trademe...

i find cannon style mufflers to be droney as fluck but a factory "style" muffler with a larger exit hole and tip makes alot of difference with the rumble, i have a fujitsu(imuasjf??) one that came with car and its quite nice rumble without the drone and you dont hear it much inside, only outside : )

so how much of a difference does the flap make? any recordings perchance?

I have tried disconnecting the activator with the flap up vs down, and can't hear much difference at idle.

Got all excited about it when first discovered it, but yeah can't hear any difference at idle up vs down. I'm sure it does make it more free flowing though - ECU controls automatically, not sure of RPM numbers/conditions at which it activiates though...

i wired that little actuator open all the time and it does seem to be very slightly more rumbly when just driving about town however i also decatted it at the same time so its probably more the decatting that the falppy thing.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
