anyone know where and how do you locate the knock sensor to a more "easy to get to" place??

also how do you know when a coil pack from the early legacys are stuffed??...mine have very very fine cracks like thinner than a strand of your hair..maybe a couple on each end of the coils. Would they need replacing..??

cheers

You could always mount your knock sensor to the firewall. But then its not going to do anything.......

It needs to be where it is so that it can pick up noises from the cylinders. Can't really put it anywhere but where it currently lives.

r.e. Coils. Does your car missfire? Or have you just spotted cracks while servicing?

If you intend to increase boost to about 1 bar then it's mandatory to replace your coils.

Especially if the coils are the OE.

ok so the sensor stays where it is...as for the coils they have been causing the engine to miss.....and yeah the boost has been increased to 1bar...Im thinking of the HE715 bosch coils I think thats the part number. What do you think ?? thanks for the info btw

The bosch coils are reputed to be a good mod to fix the problem of cracked coils. I ran my factory RS coils for at least 18 months while running 1 Bar through the motor and never had a problem with misfiring though. I don't think they're that expensive to get hold of some half decent second hand ones. Just a bit of a lottery though.

early coils are two bolt, while the wrx mount with a single bolt, its possible they would still fit though I guess.

You can get lucky with 2nd hand coils, but you might as well change them now.

I run HEC716 with custom leads, and have had no misfiring problems and enables me to run higher than 16psi.

In regards to using single bolt WRX coils; they are the same as RS 2 bolt coils.

Ultimately the Bosch will be a better spark.

anyone know where to find the tutorial that was floating around on some other subaru forums a while back explaining the bosch coil conversion....It was in a pdf file...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
