HKS SSQV Issues....Its not working at all

I ve got a feeling that the muppet that built the engine in my car has missed something. Can anyone explain how you would install one of these on a standard car?

This is the reason I now have oil in my intercooler and a buggered vf23.

Erm, how does a blow off valve cause your intercooler to fill up with oil? There will always bit a bit of oil in there due to the blowby recirculation from the rocker covers but your BOV shouldn't cause it.

Is it externally venting or plumbed back?

What are you not sure about with its installation? They have a vacuum line from the manifold plumbed to the wee nipple and they go onto the 36mm (or 19mm) hose that is somewhere on the pressure side of the piping.

Does it make a squeely sound?

Sure its not a bung vf23 that's leaking oil that is the reason for oil in your intercooler?

Sorry, defiantely a bung VF23 thats putting the oil into the intercooler. This is due to the HKS valve not releasing anything.

Its got one tube going to the toip of the manifold, Im suspecting thats not right?

No noise at all from the HKS valve

Ah gotcha, I misunderstood your first post to mean that your BOV was directly causing it

A photo would help. By one tube do you mean the tiny little tube and not the 36mm pipe that feeds the pressure side of the BOV?

Is it a proper one that's adjustable? Is the screw wound right in?

Is a proper one, with the bolt out or in it doesnt make a difference, I really think it hasnt been installed righlty and theres not enough vaccum or something.

Which vaccum point are you using?

The vacuum nozzle on the SSQ requires a step down in vacuum hose diameter.

Cheap ones can seize.. sure it's genuine?

You can see the vaccume hose coming under the valve and heading towards a vaccum nipple on top of the manifold about 15cm away......?

Looks/sounds like its installed correctly.

Tried sucking on the hose to see if you can get any movement from the piston at all? Sometimes can move it enough to be able to feel it starting to move.

Also check that the hose doesn't have any blockages.

No blockage in the hose and yip agve it a good suck and felt it move a bit.

I wonder if its leaking? Cause it sounds like everything else is doing what it should. Does the car make boost nice and early or is it slow to come on?

Seems to be ok, but ive never had it going well for more than a day so its a bit hard to tell. I was wondering if those other holes should be plugged to give more vacume?

Yeah they'd be causing a few problems to say the least. Air leaks anywhere after the afm will mess everything up.

having no bov wont really do damage as such, well not in a short period of time, im sure you already know but the idea of a bov is to stop the compressor from stalling, causing a lag between gears. in the long term it can probably cause damage to compressor, but i wouldnt say it would cause it to leak oil...

Its been like that for a good 10000kms, the turbos whining and its got compressor surge.

Just put the valve back on and no luck, so what do I bung those holes with?

a piece of vac hose with a screw in it for the short term.

The holes are a bit big for that, would be closer to a 16mm bolt?

You shouldn't have any vac. leaks such as this one...

Yip,thats where the blow off valve goes too. Im still picking a vacume issue. Can anyone explain to me any other symptoms of low vacume?

a high idle, because of the vac leak, it will run rough off boost, have a lean missfire on boost possibly and a higher co2 reading than normal.

Nope none of that, have a V7 valve on the way so time will tell.
