My 1st Hampton Downs Experience V7 STI

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Thought I would share my first Hampton Downs experience with you from my almost stock V7.

First attempt:

165kph, est. 1:34 s

Second attempt:

175kph, est. 1:33 s

Third attempt:

185kph, est. 1:30 s

What did I learn:

1. My car is slow. :) 165 atwkw just doesn't cut the mustard. I got overtaken - lots.

2. My tyres actually melted so guess they were working like they should.

3. Heck of a lot of fun and need to go again!

4. There is much room for improvement on the corners before and after main straight.

What my tyres looked like afterward:

165kw@wheels is plenty, your GD is just not particularly light.

::)

Good vids. Tyres look fine to me, all that crap will come off.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments - apart from GDs being heavy. :) At least I can fit the baby chair and pram in the boot!

Films did come off well. It is just a standard sony hand held digital camera, nothing special. I was equally surprised, it did a great job. My thought was that if I crash and write off 15K then at least I want to have it on film!

Thanks for tip about the baffled sump. I would like to do it again, great fun, but I do hate the wear and tear aspects. But then I dislike more those that have STIs sitting in garages not going anywhere. My policy has always been to use it or lose it - that goes for most aspects of life.

The "crap on tyres" is actually my tyres, it will wear away over time, but it just shows how they were punished. My abs was coming in at most braking points.

"evl sti" (or similar) was there also in his V8, although he was out each time I was in so didn't meet.

nt_a_foz, I was one of the slower cars there, what lap times did you have?

Don't study mine! :) check out "hampton downs r33 skyline hd with telemetry" for a professional. The V4 wrx is Brad from Subtech. He had a lot more speed than me. There were some accidents there; he was definitely pushing the limits, that was a big twitch.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
