A Small Q? (Fuel Pump)

Recommended Posts

I've flicked through the search but not enough info for me :) I've got a 96 BG5 just had the pump replaced job cost me around 640 for the pump new as I didnt wanna take chances on 2nd hand gear, I hit ripco up and they had the same pump for over 800, anyone know the deal on the cost of these things? when TMe has them for a 3rd of the price new, fuel filter will be next on the list for it anyway but I'm just curious.

Cheers Guys!

I put a walbro 500hp in my bg, cost 190, took 20 min to fit

If you dont have an after market reg or 2 standard regs you will have overfueling at idle with the walbro.

what a load of shit. a regulator will "regulate" what ever it is set to.

therefore, excessive psi will be dumped to tank.

a walbro is a basic mod that many people do without an aftermarket reg and have no problems.

where did you get this info?

Put a fuel pressure gauge on at idle and tell me if your pressure stays the same as pre walbro. Its enough for the long term fuel trims to be able to compensate if everything else is good but its still not a linear pressure. The walbro over powers the standard fuel reg and it cant dump off the excess fuel.

My info is from real world experience not something iv read on the interweb.

i think your pressure gauge is faulty bud. a regulator is a regulator. you cant tell me it will change its settings because of a change of fuel pump..

also, i dont take anything from the internet. i have worked with cars/hydraulics( pressures etc) for a while now.

but ive had my say, so keep arguing if you will.

Caged, you'd be the first to bring this up, maybe your original regulators were fucked? Cause i aint ever head of this before

Been running a walbro in mine for nearly a year now, never had a single issue, never noticed any differences, car does not run any richer than it did before.

Was $180 though GFB, install took less than an hour in my BG, and i had never done one before.

There have been cases of a larger fuel pumps (walbro included) causing idle issues / overfueling with stock regulators.

Not on every car.. but sometimes the walbro over powers the standard fuel pressure regulator when the engine is not consuming lots of fuel like on idle or cruise

in which case im guessing the stock reg is not working 100% and needs to be replaced anyhow

the 190lph pumps are fine its just the 255lph. My gauge is fine and iv found this on 10+ cars (evos, hondas, wrxs). If you cut open a standard subaru reg you will find that it has a restrictor on the return which limits the amount of fuel that can be bypassed. It physicaly cant bypass enough fuel past the reg and it causes raised fuel pressure untill you start using more fuel. This is not new, google "walbro fuel pump over fueling" if you dont believe me. Alot of people wont notice but if you have a scan tool check out your stft and ltft which will usually compensate for the pressure increase.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
