Subaru has published Service Bulletin # 02-103-07

hi all, we were ordering a AMSOIL oil filter for a customer and came across this, thought it might interest v10 imprezza owners.

Subaru has published Service Bulletin # 02-103-07 that identifies a factory design related problem with premature clogging of the oil mesh screen located inside the oiling system that supplies the turbo charger on all model turbo charged cars. A clogged screen will result in oil starvation and turbo charger failure. Subaru has reduced their recommended oil drain interval in half, as a solution, from 7,500 miles to 3,750 miles (3-3/4 months) and requires the oil mesh screen to be inspected, and possibly serviced, at every oil change. With this Subaru factory related design issue, AMSOIL INC. therefore must recommend customers follow the new Subaru oil change interval of 3,750 miles or 3-3/4 months until Subaru resolves this issue

Inside the banjo bolts for the oil feeds to turbo from cyl head and in the VVT banjo bolts at VVT valve

Remove and discard !

If the ol filter can't clean the oil good enough at 100micron then a mesh basket at 5 micron wont stop contanination

from what we understand, changing the oil early as specified in the bulletin is good enough, we did ask about checking the turbo filter every time but a Subaru tech said the early changing was enough.

I personally would check it though. but we tend to be over cautious and error on the side of caution.

Damn, so I'm meant to check these every service? What a pain in the ass ;/

EDIT: Hold on, so I can just pull them out and not replace them because the oil filter is doing the same job anyway?

Correct :)

All VVT problems I have seen have been caused by the filter basket collapsing and falling into the VVT valve

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
