Doors Not Locking when Arming Alarm

Recommended Posts

I have an AVS S4 alarm and it will arm and disarm correctly. However, sometimes when arming the alarm the doors and boot will not physically lock.

I called the AVS guys and they said it is likely to be a physical problem with the locks or the way the alarm is wired to the car computer.

Before I take the car to them, I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem or can provide any other insight?

2003 Legacy GTB Wagon

Thanks!

A switch Thingy in your door could be faulty. Just had to do this on karins car. Car would alarm but doors not lock. It's not an alarm problem but a central locking problem .

seconded.

The main central lock motor should be in the drivers side IIRC?

Take the door card off and check the wiring to the motor.

Once i had a car where the wiring was loose and when i went around a corner it would lock and unlock several times lol

If it was installed correctly then the alarm should be wired to the central locking brain behind the glove box,and not to an aftermarket door pump,

depending on what model it is it might not have a central locking brain?

i know my last wrx didnt

Musta been a cheap and Nasty one :)

my '90 legacy GT had one, which is what I am basing my experiance on as when it had the Alpine Alarm installed, they wired the central locking into the control box :)

Standard Jap spec 1996 afaik.

Had no central locking.

Thanks all, the alarm is wired into the main car computer.

Is it worth taking it to the alarm installers first do you reckon to see if they can fix it under the installation warranty?

Cheers for all the responses.

100 % yes, take it back tell them (nicely) that it has issues, because if u play with it and then take it back u may find the warranty null and void

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
