1999 GTB Boost Problems

Ok, so I have had a search around and cannot find anything that will fix my problems....

Boost comes on on primary turbo (around .5 bar) until around 4200 revs when boost dropps off to zero, then at 6000 it will boost again to between .7 and .8 bar.

Car is and unmodified manual and has only been having these problems since some "mechanic" repaced the engine (rin big ends). All hoses are tight and connected. I cannot find a vacuum diagram to see if all of the hoses are going to the right places so that might be a good place to start?

Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

missing boost pill...? check the line from the passenger side waste gate actuator. little dot on the boost line should have a hard bit in it

Whats changed since engine replacement? more boost back or faster change over etc etc

I checked out lines 10 and 23 but neither of them had a hard bit in them ???

What is boost back or faster change over?

Could this be a blown secondary turbo? if so how do i check?

Car does not smoke at all.

What did the engine do different before it blew up?

Did it use to have more boost (before rebuild)?

How long did it take to switch over before the rebuild?

Can't remember what lines are what or what etc anymore sorry

sounds about normal to me... (i dont know bar is that about normal? might want to be .9>1.something)

primary>VOD>secondary...

any mods to the blown engine? EBC's?

engine ran aprox 1.1 bar once secondary had kicked in previously, the boost also came on alot stronger when secondary hit. Now it just slowly builds until 6000rmp.

Engine was standard previously, nothing has changed at all.

How do i get rid of the VoD? I think that there is a Apexi EBC lying around at home somewhere. Will that help at all?

It doesnt feel anywhere near as fast as the previous engine or the past two auto ones that i have owned.

Any further help would be appreciated. Also, car is not throwing up any fault codes.

I ave been told a zero sports sequential controller will eliminate the vod or help majorly with it.

Nope, wont eliminate it

will help but only slightly

VOD is an issue with "changeover" and lack of exhaust pressure during this time

Hence FHI went back to single turbo after they tried many many mods to fix VOD without any real success

VOD wont last 1800rpm on a 3rd gen legacy

had similar prob with a twin turbo, turned out to be a buggered muffler.

Also what engine did he fit, was it out of an auto, if so compresson may be different.

Whilst it sounds like you are experiencing VOD this does not appear to be the whole issue.
