Anyone had experience with 1UZs into Hiaces?

Recommended Posts

As above, just looking for info from someone whose done one and the pitfalls tricks etc.

While theres heaps of info about people saying they have done it theres not much around saying how with pitfalls of install, extras needing to be done

Just for ease of use its a 1990 2.4 Manual petrol Hiace.

I would assume its exactly the same conversion as a hilux. I'm pretty sure they have the same running gear.

I remember seeing one on trademe a while back. I'm sure it was a promo vehical for mad soundz in hamilton?

Some one from there may be able to confirm/put you in touch with the converter.

Talk to Cartune Company in Hamilton they have done plenty of them, they are the company selling the engine mounts on tradme for 1UZ conversions.

Beat me ya fucker.

Also, Jeff from 'Choke on the smoke' in Rotorua. He's done the 1UZ into an assortment of different cars.

sell and buy a v8'd surf?

Prob cheaper altho admittedly you wont know the standard of the work done!

the good thing about the Hiace is that u can store your bike/cart/sh!t inside it all safe and sound

would love to V8 a AWD Hiace :)

u could buiy a later model diesel Hiace with the 1kz in it :) I would suggest a 2000 model with the intercooler, the one we got rocks :)

No point getting the 1kz...i got this van almost for nothing and its MINT. Ripe for a v8. I got it cos i did want something i could stuff shit in and go...and to hold my kart- which on a rainy day in Invercargill is ideal as a workshop and keeping dry. Multi purpose!

Its also something I can take the family camping in comfortably.

The idea of putting the v8 in is to keep 'the bug' at bay

Im in talks with the car tune company about how it all fits together.

I knew someone that started this conversion but never finished it. Sold in to someone in hams.

He used a Rear sump version 1UZ and a Bell housing from a company in Aussie.

Made up his own engine mounts and had it bolted in. He saw some small issues with exhuast and and alt/power steering pump piping/clearance issues, but nothing to major.

His engine was missing some of the EFI gear, coils, crank sensor and the loom had been cut in a few places so he lost interest and sold it.

Start with a petrol hiace, makes it easier base.

A 1VD Turbo diesel V8 would be a nice conversion!!!!

Sounds like a good plan :)

I would investigate LPG injection as well ( not the same as the normal LPG kit) it injects the lpg thru injectors and is ECU powered :)

drove one with a 1uz in it.

full camper bed in the back and rolling on 20's 3rd gear up a hill stabbed it from abut 1200 rpm and it sung the whole way up the hill.

was an awd one as well very very cool van.

owner said it was dodgy driving a van that could drive to 200 kph

Defiantly get a fast van ;D My old 2.4L turbo L300 put out 300whp, sooo much fun eating Evo's and STI's. 5th gear skids rolling on the throttle in the damp at 110kph ;D. Fake std pipe out the back and lawn bowls sticker.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
