Performance upgrades for 3.0r EZ30R?

Hey guys,

Not sure how many guys on here have 3.0r's? but I haven't had much luck finding info on people modifying them. I have seen the huge power people in the States are getting from Turbo/SC conversions, but I'm just looking at mild upgrades I/H/E etc, just really wondering what gives the best bang for bucks really, with this being my first Suby, I'm not sure what improvements I could expect to see from the N/A boxer.

Unless you want to pull the thing apart and rebuild it I would leave it. The only thing that will give you a decent amount of more go go will be an ECU (Link G4 Extreme), but the amount more you get out of it will hardly justify the money aspect.

You wont get much more power out of it in NA form unless you spend big dollars doing head work, in which case i would rather spend my coin putting a turbo onto it.

Yeah notawhitegtb is very right on that one. Did u can gave a EZ30R from factory or have u put it in something else like me and notawhitegtb have done?

And if u want more info on +T'ing it there is alot of info on it just need to know who to talk to really.

OK cheers guys, I get the point, turbo is the way to a real boost (excuse the pun) but for just a little better breathing and throttle response etc is it a waste of time with pod filter, exhaust etc? are the factory set ups really that efficient? I come from a Vtec background, and they always really benefit from better than stock breathing, but hey... I'm here to be educated.

Oh and Jesus, is it an EZ30D? I'm a little confused as to the difference, car is a 2004 3.0r Legacy (import).

thats true. main difference is the heads in the ez30r

The "R" denotes "Tan leather interior"

Be very careful with any headwork as Subaru notes that only .009 thou max can be skimmed off the heads.

i think mike was being a smart prick.. my BP outback has Tan leather interior...

- and yes the R to me means AVCS heads.

OK cool, point taken. Cheers for the advice tho. While we are on the topic of BP's, is it just mine or is only one reverse light supposed to work? and why are the lights on each side different ie one side has LEDs? can anyone clear this up?

good question - and its been covered before.

For clarification - the NZ new ones both the reverse lights work - and look the same - like my BPE

on JDM ones, one is a reverse light and the other LED one is a fog light so only one works in reverse like your BP
