Clutch pedal vibration

rico

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Recently my clutch pedal has started vibrating when I push it in. It does not vibrate when fully out or fully in but only as you start to push the pedal in. Clutch seems to be working fine, not slipping etc.

Anybody know what the cause is? Do I need to adjust the pedal or something?

Cheers.

If you have to go in there to sort issue THIS is what I would do minimum, also a flywheel resurface,

++1 you would have to

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions. I had a feeling it was going to be a major :(. As suggested will get the whole clutch kit and fly wheel resurfaced.

Is it going to be doing any harm continuing to drive it in the meantime while I get parts sorted etc?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention . . Its a must when you do a new clutch to re surface fly wheel . . Bnt is 50 I think for re surface . . . . And is your release bearing noisy when foot is right off the clutch ? ? It should be all right for a while unless its crazy noisy . . . Normally when they get noisy they make noise when pedal out and stops when pedals in . . . . . The worst that can happen is the release bearing could seize . . . Then you will really hear it :P

It doesn't make any noise at all, just the vibration. From what I've read online whilst searching it seems that normally you can hear a 'chatter' when the bearings on its way out so maybe mine is just starting to go.

Anyone bought one of the kits off trademe? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=371314262

It seems you can get either 225mm or 230mm, anyone know whats the best kit for a 97 BG5 gtb?

Cheers.

Had a similar sounding issue with my last V7 Sti, the clutch peddle felt a little fuzzy/buzzy when coming in and out haha Hard to explain but yeah sounds similar.

I did 25,000kms with it and didn't have any issues but I did notice that the issue came and went and wasn't there the whole time. I thought it may have had something to do with the fact my clutch fluid tank thing didn't have a heat shield on it and was exposed to heat from the Siamese downpipe

  • 4 weeks later...

i no its a bit late but i had the same thing in my old gtx every thing was new and flywheel skimmed, turns out we bent some of the pressure plate fingers, which isnt a biggy if you can put up with it.

it was mint the whole time i had it until the new owner tryed to drift it and hit a tree lol ::)

Got it sorted. Wreckers had a 2 week old clutch kit that they had installed then bought back when the car they installed it on was written off. So got basically new clutch fully installed for $500 so pretty happy with that. Feels like a new car to drive, so smooth. But do hear a slight rattle when idling which haven't had a chance to look into yet

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
