why wud u tho bro?

the v8 one works in the v7 if thats what u need to know.. but its not optimised as its also got the different avcs settings..

i find that sorting the v7 map gives more gains than going to a v8 one...

Agree with pappu. I wouldn't even trying to put another ecu in a different engine. Timing is different can easily causes detonation.

Out of curiosity pappu - what about a v8 in a v7 spec C? as the heads are supposedly the same?

the timing wud still not be optimised as the twin scroll turbo setup gives the v8 different loag/rpm zones..

it will run thats the short answer..

long answer - why risk running an unoptimized ecu map when the v7 can be tuned with lot of benefit

just with 2.5 inch exhaust and restrictor in muffler the v7 jump from 175kw@w to 210kw@w (personally tested from my own maps and verified on the dyno)

i wud say start off from the correct map and then mod it (can take hints from the way the other better maps are setup and tweak it that way)

Haha cheers guys ;D. Oh was just a thought as thers a ECUTEK v8 sti ecu for sale that I could buy and then just get a retune at torque vs doing my ecu frm scratch. bound to be cheeper as there are licence fees with ECUTEK that torque will have to charge to do the software on my ecu. Was just an idea at this point and if I didnt end up using fo some reason sill have a V8 STI to put it in ;):D.

Thanks for the info/comments once again :)

Well link list the same model ecu for V7-9 so it should work fine, if you actually going through the link manual

http://www.linkecu.com/support/documentation/g4-engine-management-documentation/SubaruV7to9

it seems the only difference which is switched with jumpers is between STI and non-STI, and looking at the pin outs the difference is ECU plug B134 pins 2 and 6 .

Im sure it wouldn't be a problem if your getting a full tune.

have a look in that link, page 22, Digital Input 3 which is Air Con Request, on my version 5 wiring where there is an option like that, the ecu will only have one of the wires connected so its as easy as looking at plug B134 and there should be a wire connected to either one OR the other.

Same hardware stup but different maps between the versions

But ya since u retuning it's no problem as they will be changing maps anyway

Have heard great things abt ecutek bro

I have just been using open source but ecutek is the real deal and licenses etc u got a good workaround plan!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
