BD5 Upgrade suggestions - Feedback wanted

looking for input, want to slowly do up my car with a few bits n pieces, will be done slowly & cash dependant

have been looking at a prova ECU upgrade. any pros & cons? price on it is $345 US delivered & second hand

what kind of supporting mods i should do at the same time?

and compatible parts for my car, eg what kind of bits can i use that will bolt on or be able to fit reasonably easy

other bits on my wishlist are probably a GFB BOV, exhaust (pro's/cons of turbo back vs cat back, probably go for something second hand),front & rear strut bracing, boost gauge (defi perhaps), ZS sequential controller, ebc , etc what kind of top mounts can i easily swap out for?

also keen for someone local in welly that knows more about subbies than me to have a look over it see what they think

so far is stock standard besides the stereo & 5 star alarm

i need to buy a capacitor for it & a new speaker for passengers side speaker pod, i think my dubstep may have blown the driver ::), too used to playing with the $125k Sound system at work

so yeah basically looking for suggestions on parts i can use that have a reasonable price tag, i don't mind using 2nd hand gear as long as its not raped, obviously if its something i need to buy new i will

I've owned the car since February, everything's going fine so far at least, turbo's seem good no problem spooling or coping to red line etc, is a bit of a slightly sweet smell after a spirited drive there are a few gunk deposits i need to get rid of & give it a good degrease to see if i can find out if there is a leak somewhere

any constructive feedback / suggestions are much appreciated

Cheers, Nick

i found that with mods the twin turbo system is not the best

i had a prova ecu and to be honest its not really worth the $$$

get some downpipes and a system i had a full rage system and it made the car alot more responsive and have more power if you end up with an overboost or spike you can drill out the little pill in the primary boost line before the tee

a turbo upgrade to vf26 on primary and vf27 or 32 secondary is the best set up you can run

also a ZS controller could be a good idea to get rid of the vod

and you can get different intercooler to suit but mostly the top mount you have is probably good enough for the power you will make with twin turbo you can get ARC ones sometimes on trademe

i had mine running rage pipes heatwrapped prova ecu and 18 psi and it went really well but it wont last forever

another option is go single turbo that way it opens you up to a much more driveable set up and you can keep modding as much as you like if you ran a vf22 and sti ecu would be alot faster than the twin set up

what kind of price tag does a single conversion mount up to? + labour as im too much of a noob to do it myself thats for sure + no garage, barely any tools etc

would also take me a long time to save enough $$ to do it properly me thinks

i think a slow upgrade of what ive got now is my best option for the mean time, then perhaps if/when i decide to go single i can flick off some bits n pieces to help fund the project..

it does reasonably well around town, generally dont get the second turbo kicking unless im on open road or pushing it , gave it a thrash yesterday and hit 58km/h just before redline in 1st gear i dont mind the twin setup too much, tweaked i think it would be fine for my needs/ wants out of it for now

It costs around $1000-1500. But it's strictly DIY. If you can't do it, and you can't find mates on here that can do it for you, just disregard the idea of doing one all together.

I recommend you learn how to swing a spanner, it opens up new world (of torment). :D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
