Anyone got a bonnet scoop - Free or Cheap? (also Heatwrap?

Hi Welly Crew

I'm looking for a bonnet scoop it fit to the RS, doesn't mater what version etc.

I would prefer Free or Cheap as I'll be most likely cutting it up and making it fit, i am looking to do some slight bonnet modification while the car isn't going to be used for events or the like.

Finally getting my arse moving and getting back into the car after a long break..

How urgent do you need it bro? When I switch over to my alloy bonnet I'll be putting in a V8 scoop so there's that one potentially

its not too urgent at the moment.. tho at the moment i have next week off work so trying to do something with my time insteed of being board or sitting playing xbox all day

Yeah I've been reading your conversion to be soon, you beast is going to be wicked as with a V7 Conversion ;D especially if you get it re-flashed

get decent heatwrap and do it properly, you will only have to waste time and money redoing it later otherwise

I only used the good stuff... I've already learn that lesson - what i was meaning was does anyone have any left over etc

Isn't a bonnet scoop over-rated with the FMIC? Or are you gonna reverse mount it?

Heatwrap experiences: the stuff from Redline Performance is crap. Surprisingly the stuff at Super Crap Auto isn't too bad, you get 25 or 30 ft for about $60 (yes, it is made in the USA too).

My extractors haven't been heatwrapped for about 18 months now - since losing it at MM-2010 at Manfeild.

Yeah i find the stuff from Redline Performance needs to be wrapped very tightly but is generally good overall. The stuff on my down pipe has lasted over a year now and been removed many times.

I've fully wrapped all items that i needed now, i have a little bit left over so might look at either wrapping something for the fun of it or see who needs a little bit later on..

Isn't that the case with most heatwrap? It turns to fibreglass under extreme heat...

The redline stuff was actually ok, I think it was the securing of it that failed on mine - as the steering rack knuckle interferes with the location of the down-pipe...so a lot more No.8 wire is needed to secure it.

not all wrap, I've used the DEI stuff with their spray on high temp silicone black spray, it bakes on when you get it hot. I did about 30,000kms on my old downpipe and the wrap is still good.

they sell it at racetech in petone, its about $100 for 50ft but its well worth it to pay the extra for the good stuff
