sealing speakers ?

hey . i have the new Sony gtx splits in my wagon . and yeah they great . but was wondering since they are 6.5inch and don't quite fit properly would making them fit better and sealing them make the bass sound better ? it seems a dumb question to me but i don't wanna go Fuckin with them if it won't achieve any thing . also how would one make 6.5s fit properly ?

will make em sound heaps better bro you could use spacers sold at supercheap that will make em sit flush pretty cheap to under $15 i think

This!!!!! Just make sure you seal the MDF so it doesn't absorb any water

bro are they for your doors?i run 6.5s in mine and they fit mint,dont u have spacers in your doors?

Do you still have the factory spacer things?

If you do, and you havnt already done it, cut off the little shield thing that goes around the magnet if you know what i mean?

Should make them fit all good and keeps the factory fitment OR use one of the OLD cooker time bucket lids, apparently they fit perfect as spacers

Do sony make 6.5" speakers? Most of the Jap speakers are 6" or multi-fit?

Use the stock subaru plastic spacers: there are two different types, for the 6" speaker they have 3 mounting holes to screw speaker to (sometimes they are branded Kenwood ones, as quite a few factory systems use Kenwood audio), for the 6.5" speaker they are slightly shallower and have 4 mounting holes to screw the speaker to. The 6" ones require cutting out to allow the magnet to fit, the 6.5" ones do not require cutting - as there is no backing behind the speaker magnet.

If you've lost the factory spacers, pick-a-part have them at either $1 or $4 each, depending on who serves you at the counter. I once scored some Pioneer blue 2-way co-axials at $6 each too, in near new cond

Failing both options Make your own using 1/2" MDF, make sure you seal/coat the MDF with something to stop it absorbing water and going spongy. But I'm quite slack, and just use the factory plastic spacers. Wooden ones being more solid should theoretically result in a less 'tinny' sound - but being Sony speakers you will still get that.

I have dynamated the bottom half of the door, behind the speaker - as I do all my cars, esp Jap ones, as they have thin doors that tend to rattle/vibrate.
