STI Inverted shock - grease...?

Hey guys,

I recently bought a set of Inverted STI shocks and want to re-grease them before I fit them. Can anyone recommend a brand / type of grease to use...?

Try use a syntheti. Grease if you can dude the engineers at work suggested castrol pd2 longtime when I asked bout it

Finally got around to re-greasing the shocks. I eventually managed to find synthetic grease at BNT automotive. Better be the best grease you can get, as the tube was just over $40...!

The old grease didn't look too bad. A little dirty towards the top of the shock. I thought I'd rather re-grease them before I fit them as I'd have been rather annoyed if I fitted them and they knocked...

There's a bit of skill involved in removing the old grease. I used heaps of tools, toilet paper, power bar taped up, degreaser, hot water... etc etc etc...

Re-greased and paint touched up a little.

3 shocks are great and ready to be fitted, however I had a bit of an issue when removing the strut from the housing on one of the rears. There's usually a tab and slot system which locks the base of the strut to the housing so that you can remove the nut, but the tab was worn away. I tried everything I could to remove the strut, but had no luck so I took it to my mechanic, who got it off but did this in the process...!

I have a set of V7 inverted shocks, so thought I'd just swap the strut over, but they're different...! Does anyone have a Rear inverted strut ( GC8 ) they want to get rid of by any chance...? If not, I'll be taking the old one to work and trying to re-machine a new base. Cheers.

ring Dave Tunley in Wellington, He had one strut in his workshop left over from a job.

It was over a year ago but he may still have it. It was a left rear from memory
